Hi Karen, question for you...
My ds and his family are stationed in New Orleans now. My ddl said that it is possible that in a month or two they may be evacuated to Albany, Georgia due to the Mississippi River rising, and possibly flooding the housing. Is that a threat for you and your family as well? A few months ago it was the wildfires in California that we worried about, now it is the floods and hurricane season! Thanks, Kelly
The Bonnet Carre Spillway in Laplace, which is a few miles upriver from where I live, is to be opened next week, I believe. That will allow the river water to flow through the spillway, and on into the lake. I don't think the New Orleans area is in danger of any serious flooding. Where exactly are they??
Actually, the Spillway is opening today at noon.
They are at the Naval Support Activity Base, does that help??
There has been nothing on the news locally to indicate that that area is in any danger.
Oh thanks Karen, I knew that you would know something about it! As soon as my kids are out of school we're going to go down to visit. I've never been there but there is alot that i would like to go see and do, reading your posts and I also a few others that have been there recently, it is just great having my family closer than they were when we were out in california.
I will pay particular attention to the weather portion of the local news this weekend, and I'll post if anything develops, OK??
Thank you Karen!
