Clogged milk duct after weaning
Hello all, does anyone have any tips???? I have a clogged duct it usually flares up around my period but for the past month it has been causing me a lot of pain. My doctor says there is nothing I can do but it is driving me crazy! I weaned over 10 months ago! I used to be able to massage it out but my milk is completely dried up this thing just won't budge. If any one has any tips I am all ears. I have tried hot compresses and hot shower and taking something for pain. Thanks
Honestly I would seek a second opinion. If hot compresses and massage aren't working and you still have a knot in there, there might just be something wrong. I get lumpy breast right before my period, and feel like my milk could let down at any minute (my youngest is 10 years). But I never have a spot that fills like a clogged duct. The only other thing I know is to try the cabbage leaf thing, put several fresh leaves on top of the affected breast and then use a wet warm towel on top, something about the gases releasing help with milk issues. But I will say again, you need to seek a second opinion from an md, you could have a tumor and not a duct issue.
Thank you for the Advice, I think you may be right on the second opinion. I will try the cabbage thing in the mean time and maybe seek a female doctor to speak with. thanks again!
Ditto on the second opinion. He didn't think it could be mastitis?
Ditto, Ditto on the second opinion. A month's worth of pain and your doctor is looking further? Unacceptable, in my book. I infer from your second post that your present doctor is male - I wonder if he would so cheerfully accept a month's worth of pain between his legs?
Ha ha!! I am sure he wouldn't!! I had mastitis when I first began nursing, I don't have any of the symptoms this time just this knot that is painful. Thanks for all the support, now I don't feel crazy for thinking this is something that should be looked after.
