Washing stuffed animals??

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2008: Washing stuffed animals??

Natalie woke up tonight and wet in her bed. :( No biggie, except one end of her stuffed dog was soaked - she sleeps with it every night. Can I just wash and dry it like clothes? I've never washed a stuffed animal before, believe it or not! TIA.

Yes you sure can if you feel more comfy put it in a pillow case and tie teh case shut then wash it. We wash all of ours every once in a while.

I would wash it but not put it in the dryer.

You can even put it into the drier if you want to! It fluffs them up nice! If it has any glue on things like eyes or nose, use a low temp so the glue doesn't loosen. But it they are stitched, you can dry away! I have washed and dried dd's build a bear things MANY times!

I do all my daughter's stuffed animals on a regular basis! Wash and dry! They come out beautiful and fluffy and smelling wonderful!

I've washed tons of beanie babies and I did put them in the dryer. They came out fine. The kids played with them so much, at one time, that they would get so dirty. Obviously, we weren't keeping these as collector items, since washing them wrecks the little tag. Oh well.

Emily had a little fisher price soft toy, that I washed on a regular basis. Also, she had a little purple bunny, made of a nylon-y fabric, that I had to wash regularly, because it would also get filthy. I say, Go for it!

I wash stuffed animals all the time. I put them in a pillow case, wash them on gentle, and throw them in the dryer on low. They always come out great.

I used a pillowcase for washing and drying and it worked great. Thanks!

I use a pillow case and wash and dry them but sometimes if say a horse has a mane, or the stuffed animal has some type of hair or fur, it' does not come out right.

My ds had this cute little lion. After I washed and dried it, the mane looked like an afro! LOL

My dd has a webkinz pony and it's mane came out looking not so great. I brushed it for her and it's a bit better but still looking a little mated.
