Pregnant sister in er
My sister was having back pain and discharge and decided to go to the hospital. She has to have her phone off up there of course and I was unreachable when she decided to go. I hate this! For all our differences I'm the big sister and I want to help. I hope everything is ok.
I hope everything turns out ok. How far along is she?
Hope she's OK!
{{{HUGS}}} and prayers.
Everything is fine! They did an ultrasound and all is well. She is about 14 weeks. She told me she doesn't want an epidural because they had to give her a cather (sp?) last night and they told her now they do that for women with epidurals. I told her to do herself a favor and sign the papers to be able to get an epidural if she changes her mind!
Glad everything is OK with your sister. Tell her to take it as easy as she can.Tell her when she is in labor and to the point of having to get the epi she will not even know when they put the cathe in.
They did that for me when I had my ds. The epidural was already in so I couldn't feel a thing. It's not a big deal. Actually it was so much better than when I had my dd. That time I did not have a catheter. After I had her they kept telling me that I had to try to go pee. Well, since I was so numb, i couldn't feel anything. I could not relax my muscles enough to go! They said if I didn't go I would get a UTI so they gave me a big jug of water. I hardly slept at all because I was so worried about going pee! I swear I sat in the bathroom for 1/2 hour because I could feel like I had to go but I just could not relax. Well that was probably TMI but I was just so glad that they gave me the catheter so I didn't have to worry about that when I had my ds.
oh yeah....i'm glad your sister and baby are ok!
Yeah she is admittedly a bad patient. She is a certified EMT for volunteer and works in a hospital and thinks she knows everything but SHE has never been pregnant before . Should be interesting.
Having a catheter isn't that bad and for a vaginal delivery, it wouldn't be in that long. Once you have the epidural, you can't walk too well, so peeing would be a bit of a problem!
UGH, I strongly disagree, Dawn! I always found a catheter to be extremely uncomfortable!!!!! Once that epidural wears off, you feel it, and my bladder has always given me problems after they were removed.
When I had my kids I did not have any epidurals I think they should do away with that for having babies ( that is the way I feel). The young kids are just having alot of babies cause they say oh we didn't have pain with that.
I was so grateful that I had an epidural when I had my dd. Honestly, there was so much going on that I didn't even notice the catheter. I'm glad I didn't know about the catheter before hand, or I know I would have worried. Sometimes what we don't know is a good thing, or at least this has been true for me.:-) Rayelle, I'm glad all is well with you sister.
