My sister .... (so proud)
My sister is 34yrs old and a single mom of 3 kids (finally) she is finally after many many years of being not so good is turning her life around. She kicked out her looser mooch of a boyfriend and is thinking about her kids 1st. She is going to buy a home and I am so excited for her. It is crazy how excited i am for her. Well she and I have been talking and she is still deciding between a few houses so nothing solid on the choice yet but I want to do something for her. She told me how she wants to do her bathroom and kitchen when she gets a house. I was thinking of doing a gift basket of stuff for her bathroom that she will need to remodel it with. She wants to do a solid white bathroom with bright orage and lime green daisys on the walls with the same color for the rugs. I was thinking of buying her the small containers of paints and the stencils of daisys plus like a gift card to somewhere for the rugs (if I can find them). Do you think that would be OK? Or would I be stepping on her toes buying this stuff for her house. She is very tight on money so not allot of improvements in the beginning. A room at a time. Or would it be cool to get her like a few gift cards 1 for the paint store, 1 for the rug store and 1 for the fabric store (curtains). I want to spend like $50 on this stuff. Tell me what you think please.
Woohoo! Too tired right now to look at suggestions. Will study further, in the morning.
I think I would stick with the gift cards. It is so much fun to pick out things for your new home, I would want to do that. Plus, you never know, she might change her mind on decorations depending on the house she buys! She might find a home that she already likes the way the bathroom is done!
I agree with Vicki. Gift cards would allow her to pick out her stuff, herself! I think that is what I would want, too!
If you live close you could get her the gift cards and offer to go along/take her on her shopping trip--- make it a fun sisters day out.
