What are some paint colors in your home? We are in an apartment right now so they are white but i want color lol = ) so tell me about your colors and pics would be great too ...Thanks Brandy

By Luvn29 on Thursday, March 13, 2008 - 07:55 am:

You want colors? You should try sleeping in my bedroom right now! It used to be my ds room and at the time he was brainwashed by my dad into being a Green Bay Packer's fan. So he wanted his room Green Bay Packer Green and yellow! Opposite walls are bright green, and opposite walls and ceiling are bright yellow! We have the paint, but just haven't had the time to repaint yet! Ugh!

By Jodes on Thursday, March 13, 2008 - 08:00 am:

I love color, in our entry way and hallway we have the walls painted lavender, our living room/dining room which we made into a "sitting" room is a color called beachhouse, a blue green color, our kitchen is red (I love it!) and our bedroom is yellow. We just painted each of our boys's rooms over the winter, one room ocean blue and our younger son wanted his club soccer team colors, maroon and gold! It sounds crazy, but all the colors in our home go so well together and to me, it makes the house so inviting! Have fun!!

What's wrong with Packer colors? LOL! I can understand not wanting dark green and bright gold walls in a bedroom, though. My bedroom is just an off-white color.

Growing up my brother had his room ut colors, burnt orange and white. Really it didn't look horrible, but I hated it!

By Bellajoe on Thursday, March 13, 2008 - 08:59 am:

We've got a very colorful house, since our last house was mostly boring white.

Our entry way and family room is a soft golden yellowish color. My kitchen's color is called "great green", my dining room is a maroon/darkish red color, Those rooms are open and you can see each color from the other one. It looks really nice. In fact each time my sister in law comes over she sits in a certain chair in my kitchen so she can see all 3 colors at once and she always comments on how much she loves it.

My office is a blueish color, the bathroom color is called Glamour and is a purplish color. It sounds weird but it is really pretty with the tile and the cabinets,
My bedroom is a soft blueish/greenish. Laundry room is a pretty sky blue with white cabinets. Kids bedroom are blue and dd's is purple and light green.

I told you it was colorful. Not ONE white wall in the house. LOL

Kitchen: Yellow walls, red accents (dishes, etc)
Living Room: Top half of walls (above chair rail) Same Yellow as Kitchen. Bottom half is red. Note: Brandy You will need at least 3 coats to get a nice even red color.
Dining Room: Yellow walls
Theatre Room (Hubby's room): Varigated brown walls
Our bedroom: Chocolate Brown
Our bathroom: Ice blue with brown.
Jessica's room: Purple and hot pink
Addison's room: Baseball stadium wall mural on 2 walls. The other walls are chalkboard paint.
Kids bathroom: Sand colored (and texture)
Laundry Room: White---it is the only white space in my house.
My studio: Varigated brown walls and a corkboard wall.
I completely understand you wanting color on your walls. I hate white walls. I think they never look clean. I remember, when we rented, I would paint the walls every few months with a new coat of white paint (only color allowed).

Brandy, make sure your landlord is ok with a red wall before you paint.

By Reds9298 on Thursday, March 13, 2008 - 04:50 pm:

Ditto on 3 coats of red. I helped paint my friend's bedroom and it was a bear getting it really even. Beautiful when it was finished though.

Ditto "Brandy, make sure your landlord is ok with a red wall before you paint."

Red is VERY difficult to cover. It requires primer and usually 2 coats primer before painting another color.

By Tink on Thursday, March 13, 2008 - 05:00 pm:

Kitchen: Yellow walls with red accents
Living room: White with red and robins' egg blue accents
Family room: Yellow with blue accents
Laundry room: Pale blue
Master bedroom: Light olive green with cream crown molding and baseboards
Master bath: Robins' egg blue
Ds's room: White on 3 walls, dark blue on 1 wall
Oldest Dd's room: White on two walls, hot pink on other two
Youngest Dd's room: Pale lime green with red accents

We've always had white or cream walls so I went a little nuts in our current home.

Ditto Yvonne about the red - it takes several coats to get a good, even color, and it's difficult to paint over, though if you use a primer on it, it covers well. Jen's room was a GORGEOUS red called Cranberry Zing at one point. I LOVED it! She decided that red for her B/R wasn't a good choice though, said it made her feel angry. LOL But red rooms/walls, IMO, are totally striking. LOVE them.

We just repainted last year, plus replaced all the walnut-colored stained trimwork and doors with white. *Most* of the rooms are a neutal color called Tyler Taupe (we used Benjamin Moore colors).

My B/R is a dark purple called Cabernet
My bath is called Wet Concrete, and totally compliments the Cabernet
The hall bath is a dark rust called Georgian Brick
Jen's room is called Mountain Laurel, a blueish/green with neutral undertones.
The hallway and ceilings are Tyler Taupe @ 1/4 of the color strength

Sounds weird, but even with all that color, they are all in the *neutral* family due to the undertones and they flow.

I was always one of those people who was terrified of color. Now I LOVE it. And with the white trim and doors, they really pop. In the rooms that have the taupe walls, we have used tons of color in furnishings, accents, rugs and wall decor. I can't imagine going back to white or beige walls now.

It's only paint - you can always change it if you don't like it.

Here are the colors in our house. For 30 years we moved every 2 1/2 years, and I had to keep things neutral for resale. This is our retirement home, and I've had the chance to really decorate. I love color, and have used it lavishly.
