Great Wolf Lodge
My kids and I would like to go here for a week , I was thinking the week of Memorial Day Weekend. I have to save for with so many other activities in the works or have been planned. My question is, can I do a weeks stay here at the Lodge like I would at Disney? As far as make a deposit during my initial reservation, and pay on it and pay ti off before my arrival. Or does it have to be paid for up front? We will be going to the one in Williamsburg, driving distance. Is there any special kind of room I should look for location form the water park, noise etc.? I've decided that we would only go from that Friday until that Sunday. Do they offer packages for just the three days or do we have to stay longer?
I am basing my answer on the Great Wolf that is in the Wisconsin Dells. I imagine it is the same for most of them. You can stay for a week if you wish. As for as payment, you will have to provide the hotel with a credit card or a debit card to reserve your room. They will charge your credit card for the entire balance when you check out. Great Wolf operates just like any other hotel does. You can stay anywhere from one night to a week or more, if you are willing to pay. Now, on some weekends and special holidays, they will require a 2 or 3 night stay.
Thanks Tayjar. I called and spoke with a rep. I did book on line and they said that they would charge me for one night and tax at time of booking, but didn't mention when the rest was due. So I'm assuming it's like you said. I see that it would be cheaper and more beneficial to check in that Wed. before the holiday and stay until Fri. When I will check out and check in to a local hotel in Williamsburg and over the holiday weekend me and the kids will go to Busch Gardens and Water Country USA.
We have been here twice(Williamsburg location)with the girlscouts. The girlscouts do an overnight trip there. Its fun, but by the 2nd day of the waterpark,I think they are "over it" LOL. We live about 45 minutes from this Lodge. It is a beautiful place.
Well I'm glad thats i just choose the two days then. So can I take a life vest for my 4yo?
They will have life vests there that you can use for no charge. I can't remember about Great Wolf Lodge spefically but many places such as Oceans of Fun etc. will only let you use their life vest/jackets as they know for sure that they meet all the required safety standards.
Kalahari, which we love by the way, only lets you use their life vest, and they are free of charge. They give you everything you need according to what you are doing. Rings to float down the river on etc.. They do not allow you to bring in any flotation type things. All the fresh towels a person could ever need, are on racks all over the water park, with carts you drop the wet ones in... So basically, you bring your key/card and anything else you need is with in the water park.. We spent three days at the Kalahari, spring break of last year, next time I think we will only do two days. Three days was a bit too much... We are so wanting to go again this year but I am not sure we can swing it. We will have to see what I can manage.. Have a great time.. My kids think the water parks ROCK, LOL.. It is a nice break from winter, around here, for sure. We went in wearing winter coats and ran around for three days in swimming suits and shorts.. I am getting excited just thinking of the fun we had, anyway... Have a great time. And you must update us when you get back.. If you have any concerns, questions, I would just call them and ask.. They will let you know what all they provide, etc.
Oh and the Kalahari, They debit your account after your stay is over. The morning you are to leave they slide a envelope under your door with your bill in it (there is a copy you sign and a copy for your records in it). You look it over, check all the charges (you can charge meals etc to your room) you sign the slip giving them permission to debit your account and there are three drop off boxes through out the building you drop the signed paper into. You get to keep your key and you don't actually have to sign out. No fuss no muss..
At Blue Harbor, in Sheboygan, I've never actually stayed there, since it is in town, so we bring our own towels, since I don't think we are supposed to use the hotel ones, if we aren't staying there. They also have lifevests, too, for the little ones, and the rings for the lazy river and the big slides.
Yes,Im pretty sure there they have lifevests at the Great wolfe lodge. They also have towel service, which is nice. Though we always bring our own, as I love my big beach towels better.
Thanks, for all the info it really helps. I wish I had access to your minds when I first went to Disney, I think I wasted so much money. I had one of those packages that included everything form in room baby sitting to everything you ate to scubba diving didnt' use it though. But now I really want to ask a dump question, for those of you that have gone to these type of water parks that have stayed over or like Dawn since it is near by just vist for the day. Do you know if you can visit Great Wolf for just the day or do you have to stay over? I ask this because remember I said that me and the kids would also go to Busch Gardens and Water Country while in Wiliamsburg, I think if they are going to Water VCountry they don't need to stay at great Wolf. Which I noticed on B.G web site that one of the hotels you can stay at in there packages includes Great Wolf (I've been trying to get a price quote but that has been difficult) to say the least. I appreciate all the help, sometimes trying to get all the information you want from a telephone rep. they sometimes seem impatience with all the questions, but if you don't know then how else are you going to find out. So thank you to all of you for your help that you have provided and any more that may come my way.
Bobbie, We are going to the Kalahari Resort at Sandusky for 3 nights in March. This is our first time and we are staying there. Any tips would be appreciated.
When Emily was at horse camp, 2 years ago, the camp went to the Kalahari, just for the day and then came back to the camp. They say they only have a limited number of tickets, or "spaces" for non-hotel swimmers, but we have never had trouble getting in, on a given day, when we've wanted to go.
