I think they're also called 'crib tents'. I saw one on amazon.com for 69.99. You might even try ebay. I'd make sure to check out all the warnings associated with it - safety regulations, etc.

I plugged crib tent into Google and a bunch of sites came up, with prices ranging from $50 to $80. I agree with Kay, it is very, very important to check the safety warnings of any particular product like this, especially how it fastens onto the crib and any potential choking hazards.

I don't trust anything anymore. The more things you add to the crib the less safe the crib is. Are your cats gentle?

Isn't it an old wives tale that cats will sit on a babies face?

OneStepAhead.com - Crib Tent

Has your aunt asked the parents if they want one??

By Sunny on Thursday, December 30, 2004 - 03:13 pm:

The old wives tale I heard was that cats are lured by the smell of milk and can suffocate the baby by licking them. It is just that, though, an old wives' tale.

What is the purpose of the tent, to keep them from climbing and falling out? I always took that as an indication that it was time to move them to a toddler or regular bed.

That would have driven me nuts to have to unzipper something everytime a baby needed me! Of course, I didn't have any pets when my kids were that little.

My cat jumped in the crib once. I had put dd in the crib and I laid down on the bed. It was only semi-dark in the room and I saw the cat jump. I about ripped my stitches out jumping out of the bed and racing to the crib. By the time I got to it the cat was on her way out. I think that she just wanted to see what was in there and when she saw it was the baby she got right out.

I don't think that I would have liked the tent. If the cats are a problem why not close the door to the room that the baby is in?

I had three cats (still do) when my oldest was born. We put a wooden screen door up so the pets could not get in...I stained it to match the nursery. Worked really well...we could hear her if needed and it looked really cute. I too tried the crib tent to keep her in...once they get to a certain age forget it...she started climbing out at 13 months. We got a toddler bed with rails soon after!!

Ditto the screen door on the bdrm door... We know a couple that did this for on their nursery. They had cats that they didnt want in the nursery.

I could see using it in the summer on a playpen outside for the bugs but it might be a pain otherwise.

Our cat never bothered our kids.

In that picture, if the kid is that tall and that stable when standing, shouldn't the crib mattress be down farther? LOL! That kid looks like she could fall right out of that crib!

My brothers and I were notorious midnight maraders. Mom sewed a piece of fabric between the knees of our sleeper jammies. We could walk or run just fine but we couldnt get our leg up high enough to get out.
