Teens and Cellphones
Okay, what is it with 2 teenage girls at McDonald's and Culver's who supposedly went out to eat with each other, so they must enjoy each other's company, right? But, they spend the whole time they are at the restaurant, on separate cellphones, calling other friends that they know AND having loud conversations with them! So, you have two girls having 2 different conversations, LOUDLY, and not with each other! Last night at Culver's and another night that we were at McDonald's, we have to listen to multiple conversations! It's far more annoying than of the girls were talking to each other. They don't really have anything important to say to the other friends, they are just calling because they have a cellphone and they can call the other person. I saw 4-5 teens at Culver's last night all talking on their phones, despite being with other people at the restaurant! I just don't get it. If I went out to eat with my friend, Edie, I wouldn't spend our whole eating time talking with some other friend on the phone!
It's everywhere you go. And it's not just kids either, at least not in the places I've been, and not just in my state. I go to concerts and I see ADULTS on cell phones the entire time trying to *share* the music with their friends at home. I go to a restaurant or shopping or the grocery store, it doesn't matter where, I see kids and adults, out with each other, all on cell phones talking to other people. What's the point??? I'm clueless! And my pet peave - people in the movies with cell phones! Experienced it just last night. But I think the teens on cell phones are probably the worst. I see groups of them, anywhere from 4 to 8 or 10 or even 12 kids, and almost everyone of them is on a cell phone talking to someone else. It's insanity.
It was frustrating on Christmas Eve at my in-laws house my 22 year old niece spent a bunch of time on her cell phone while we were opening gifts and such. I felt like saying something but she wouldn't listen and just plain wouldn't care! It is so rude. She did the same thing at Thanksgiving.
People have lost the purpose of the cell phone in the first place. I have one, a prepaid. I bought it while I was working because I had to be into work so early (safety purposes). The only people that call me on the cell are my childrens schools... It is my secondary emergency contact number when I can't be reached at home. I bought it for a purpose and that is the purpose it is used. Most people don't even have my cell phone number.. I can't leave the house with out running into someone having a chat on their phone (adults and kids). The high schoolers come out of school and start dialing out. Just nuts.. My kids don't have them and they won't be getting one until there is a purpose. And I am not talking DS is in football. That is what the pay phones at school are for... Kids are given way to much these days and they don't have respect for them... JMHO of course......
