Yuck!!! Kids!
Today I only have two day care kiddos, brother, 7 and sister, 4. Well I've had a gingerbread house sitting on top of the cupboards for two years now, so I decided to let them decorate it, along with my boys. It had everything needed, including icing, candy, and a gingerbread man, snowman and tree. So I mix the icing (just add water) and put the house together. I barely get the roof frosted and they're already putting candy on it! Meanwhile, they're EATING this 2yo candy and gumballs (gross!). So I set out some M-n-M's for them to munch on while decorating. Okay, then I frost the gingerbread man, snowman and tree for them to decorate and they proceed to EAT THEM!!! EEEWWWW!!! At least the boys all decided after a few bites they really didn't like them and stopped, but the little girl ate her whole snowman. Do you think 2yo gingerbread cookies will make her sick??? I hope not! lol I guess I won't let a kit like that sit for 2 years next time.
That is gross. 2 year old candy...I don't know if it will make her sick like food poisoning, but it would make me sick for the moment...lol. I guess kids will be kids and if it's candy it is fair game.
I took the kids ice skating at our local indoor civic center last weekend. From across the rink I watched MY 7 year old son scoop up some of the shaved ice at the base board and EAT it! I guess a version of the saying if it doesn't make them sick; it will make them stronger! LOL
It *probably* won't hurt them. I remember when Jen was around 2 or 3, we were walking on the street somewhere and she spied a piece of gun someone had - OK, this is GROSS - spit out and promptly picked it up and put it into her mouth. Made ME want to hurl!
EEWWWW ! Is right Cat.I think I would feel queasy just seeing her eat that ! I don`t think that they will make her sick though ,well.... lets hope not anyway LOL !
I'll agree it was probably harmless, though GROSS! I was at a friend's house the other day, and she was pulling stuff out of storage to decorate, and found some mini candy canes from last year. Mind you, these have been stored outside in a storage closet, through the HOT TX summer and all. She gave them to her DKs to eat, and said "It's candy, candy never goes bad!" I just bit my tongue, and declined when her DS offered me one. Yuck!
Well, here the house sits, on my breakfast bar. Little indentations in the icing where some of the candy and gumballs used to be. Icing hard as a rock, crumbling a little at a time like snow falling from a roof. Maybe the cats will eat some tonight while we sleep. At least the kids had a good time making it. I'll let them enjoy looking at it tomorrow and then in the trash it will go. I've found year old candy canes in my Christmas decorations before. Can't say we ate them, though. Can I get another EEEWWWwww...
