Oh Boy...
Things worked out his year for my dad to come in from Florida, I had posted a while back about being upset about him not being able to come in for Thanksgiving. I am so excited, he is leaving his house in the morning and will be here around 5 or 6 TOMORROW night, I can't believe it, I have not seen him in like 3 years! He is really excited too. Now...Any ideas about how I am supposed to introduce my dd to her grandfather? They have never personally met, she has only seen pictures of him and knows him by those, and they talk on the phone and she knows his voice, I am kind of nervous about her meeting him. I told him not to feel bad if she doesn't "take to him" instantly, other than that I guess it's out of my hands, unless some of you ladies have a good idea for me....
You might be surprised at how well she takes to him. After all, look at how people meet on the internet! Obviously you aren't going to push her, so just let things progress naturally. Make sure that she associates the pics and his voice with him in person. Maybe a toy or a stuffed animal from him would help break the ice- even if you have to go buy it for him so that he can give it to her. Good luck! I am so happy for you!
Talk up grandpa, "isnt it exciting grandpa is coming, boy grandpa is going to be amazed at how big you are, grandpa hasnt seen you forever he is so happy to be coming to visit" Just chat granpa up to superman statis and you should be fine.
Thanks alot ladies, I believe everything will be okay, if the roads aren't to bad that is.
Maybe right before your expecting his arrival have her look through his pictures and tell her that he will be here soon, maybe even have to talk to him on the phone before he gets there. I'm glad things worked out this year and you can see him. That IS a Christmas miracle and I hope you all have a wonderful time! Let us know how everything goes!
He had a hold up in Georgia, something about a tractor trailer accident. But he is in town and safe, but at my grandparents house. We will go over there tomorrow morning.
Things went wonderful today. I said "Katelyn, who is that?" and she said "poppy" He just smiled so big, and even my young one took right to him. I am glad things went good. My girls even liked his wife, Katelyn was talking to her and turned and looked at me and said "I like her" How sweet. Their dog is adorable and he really helped break the ice, they have a Jack Russel Terrior, named Harley.
SO GLAD things turned out for you! Must have meant so much to see your family together!
