Favorite thing about being pregnant?
I might be in Parents magazine...Certainly NOT for my expertise! LOL! I responded to the website when they said they needed women to tell them what their favorite thing about being pregnant is/was. This lady wrote back and said I had a great response and wanted to know where I live. So, it made my day. :-P What I wrote: "All too often, parents think that the bonding experience happens after birth. My most favorite thing about being pregnant was when I would play classical music to my son in utero. He would kick often in response to a high note and lay low when the music was somber. I thought about selling my tummy speakers on Ebay, but when I took them out of the closet, I remembered that it was then that I bonded to my baby." AAhhh...made me reminisce a bit and smile. Anyone else have a "favorite thing about pregnancy"? I kind of miss being pregnant...I didn't have to share him with anyone! LOL!
I loved being pregnant. I loved the tummy look And there are so many trendy maternity clothes that it is just plain fun! My very very favorite thing was feeling the baby kick. Even though others could feel it from the outside, it's just not the same as feeling from the inside. I can't wait to be pregnant again!
Me too. And I agree with the "didn't have to share him with anyone" comment above - funny but true! It's a very cool and private experience, sometimes. I also wrote a journal to "Sprout" (as I called him) throughout the whole 9 months. In a weird way, Sprout/ds became a confidante. Mine was a relatively easy pregnancy, and I hope to go through it again.
Yes! That too! I'll never ever forget his foot moving across the top of my belly and how it felt so neat! I had to stop teaching my class and just grin! The kids thought it was cool as well...I actually liked it when people touched my belly.
I miss the kicking, too. I once had someone ask me how it felt. I couldn't even describe it! It often felt like being tickled from the inside! LOL! But try to explain that to someone who has never been pregnant!
How about the fluttering in the 4th/5th month? I told my friends that it felt like when you're in a pool and someone *almost* kicks you, yet you can feel the strong water wave on your skin....only mine tickled a bit.
Oh heavens, I did NOT like it when people touched my belly. Well, my DH was ok My mother in law would always run up to me and lift my shirt up and stick her hand up onto my belly. I didn't quite like that! All this talk makes me want to be pregnant
I loved the kicks, until the end when Maddie would get up under my ribs. OMG, I'd sit STRAIGHT up in bed and be frantically trying to push the body part out of my rib cage! I really just had a great pregnancy, and loved *most* of it.(Maybe that's selective memory to some extent... darn baby fever!) I also frequently played music, and loved to feel them move to it.
I think feeling the baby move is the best part too. I always like it when they roll in your tummy, that is the weirdest feeling ever. I remember being pregnant with my kids you could see my whole belly move from one side to the other. I can't wait for that experience again, but it'll be here before I know it! Congrats on *maybe* being in Parents! How exciting.
I loved being pregnant! I didn't get sick for the most part and just loved the feeling of a little being growing inside of me. I vividly remember being pregnant with my first and feeling him move for the first time. On my way home from work one night I felt a gentle fluttering. Oh, words can't express the feelings of pure joy when I realized what it was. Every night during my commute home I listened to my favorite CDs. The baby always seemed to wake and move a lot at that time. He's now 8 yrs. old, and guess what his favorite music group is! The same music I listened to often when he was in utero. When pregnant with DD, she often woke me at night. Instead of being annoyed I took pleasure in these special moments only she and I shared. Well actually, one of our cats (Solitaire) slept against my belly and was woken by DD's kicks as well. LOL! In fact, the only time that particular cat slept near by belly was when I was pregnant. I remember when she began this odd behavior and wondered what was up. Apparently she *knew* I was expecting before we did.
I hope I enjoy my 2nd pregnancy more than my 1st. I enjoyed it and felt beautiful up until I was 5 1/2 months, when DH left for Iraq. By that point I had gained like 7 pounds and you could barely tell I was pregnant. Within 3-4 weeks of him leaving I packed on 10 pounds and started getting stretch marks. I had nobody to look "cute" for or to share the kicking moments with so while it was fun and memorable, it didnt have that special touch like when DH was there. I loved when DD had the hiccups and the first few times I felt her kick. DH never even got to feel that. But hopefully next time is coming real soon and i'll have a memorable experience.
I really didn't enjoy the whole experience of being pregnant but there were isolated moments that were incredible. I was in the tub every night when I was preggo and loved to watch my stomach move. I'd watch the baby move from one side of my belly to the other and DH and I would play "name that bump"! Is it a foot, an elbow, their backside? The other part of being preggo that I loved was the fact that my DH LOVES pregnant women. He would cuddle up to my enormous belly, talk to the baby, pat it to get it to settle down so I could sleep, and he told me all the time how beautiful I was! Whew, no baby fever here!
Being prego for me had its ups and downs. With my dd i was nauseas the first 3 months. I remember having that fluttering feeling and tell my dh that i though i felt the baby move. Of course at that time you couldn't even tell i was pregnant. My dh didn't think it was the baby i felt...but I was positive. I also loved going to my Ob and hearing his or her little heartbeat. I loved how people told me how great i looked nd that i was glowing. I didn't mind people touching my belly as long as they were famiy. Most people asked first which i prefered. I just find it rude when people just walk up to you and touch your stomach. By the 8th month i was done being pregnant! And just wanted to get that baby out of me and into my arms! Recently my friend was pregnant and i was SO wanting to feel her belly and feel the baby kick. I finally asked her if i could and she said "absolutely"...just as i put my hand there her little boy kicked. It was so exciting for me!
My favorite things were: Not feeling ashamed of how fat I got Showing off my huge belly (Now I try to hide it LOL) Feeling her move and kick Feeling her hiccup Everything!!!!! I had the best pregnancy with Rylee. I was hardly ever sick. I think that I got sick maybe 5 times my whole pregnancy. The worst part was that I gagged everytime I brushed my teeth. I am really looking forward to getting pregnant again whenever the time is right.
Yeah, hiccups, name that bump, DH talking to the baby! I liked all of those! Do you think my daughters will let me touch their tummies when they are pregnant some day?
They better!!! My mom touched mine all the time.
My favorite thing about being pregnant was not being pregnant anymore. I was always so happy to see there little baby faces, I just couldnt wait.
