I got my 4 gallon pin!!
Remember that especially at this time of year that blood donations are down and demand is up. If you have the time and ability to donate, please do because you could save a life.
Good for you! My mom is a gazillion-gallon donor, and I am just in awe.
I gave blood 2 times in school and I haven't since, but I don't think you can give blood when you are pregnant, Can you? It does feel good to help out, good for you!
Nope you cant give when you are pregnant. Probably why I am not at the 5 gallon pin LOL. I started donating in high school. I always have tried to be giving to other people. I figure you should either give your time, money or both. I dont have alot of money so I donate my time. Giving blood is one of the ways I try to give back to my community. It really is not all that difficult for me and I have a rare blood type so it makes me even more compelled to donate. I might be able to save my neighbor or my friend and I hope that someone would be there for me if I ran into trouble and needed a blood donation. I guess I am kinda silly about the whole thing, I just feel super strong about it.
I've got just 2 more pints until I have my 3 gallon pin. The Red Cross does everything to remind me and get me to the donation center except personally drive me there. But then I'm O neg which they are always in great need of.
I'm O Negative too. My Dad had dozens of different gallon size pins. He was a true believer in giving blood. Unfortunately I wasn't able to follow in his footsteps, as I'd like to do. I had hepatitis as a teen, and they won't take my blood. :o(
I am O positive, very common so I have heard but I still give blood when I can, maybe I will start back when I have the baby.
