Christmas Cookie exchange
I am involved in a girls group. We get together once a month and do something. For December we are having a combined baby shower (one of the woman just had a baby) and a christmas cookie exchange. The thing is...it is this SUNDAY and I haven't thought of what to make yet. Oh, BTW...I have to make 14 dozen-there are 13 ladies and another lady in the community just had hip surgery so we are each making an extra dozen to give to her. Any suggestions?
14 dozen? I thought I had it bad with the one we are doing. I have to do 4. Try biscotti, they are good, not a lot of people make them and you get a lot out of one batch.
Is it hard to make? I have a recipe for it but I wasn't sure how hard it was to make.
I have a recipe for monster cookies, but I think that it makes 24 dozen. They are awesome. If I gave someone the recipe, could you tell me how to shrink it?
what are monster cookies
No it's not hard to make. I have a great chocolate mocha biscotti recipe if you want it.
Oh I would love that Colette.
Rayanne, I'd love to hear what your monster cookies are. Could you post it or send it to me at griffalton3-momsview@yahoo.com? Thanks!
I always make the Neiman Marcus rip off hoax cookies. They're chocolate chip, and the recipe makes 10 dozen. It's easy, and they're amazing!! You can find it on the urban legends page.
We try to make a more fancy cookie. The rule is that chocolate chip is more of an everyday cookie so we can't use those
I make these Easy cookies and everyone loves them for the holidays Eskimo Snowballs 1 cup butter or margarine, softened 4 tablespoons water 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 6 tablespoons cocoa powder 1-1/2 cup granulated sugar 4 cups quick-cooking oats powdered sugar flaked coconut chopped nuts Cream butter with water and vanilla. Add sugar, cocoa, and oatmeal, mix well. Roll into 1" balls. Add more water if necessary to make the dough stick together. Divide the balls in half. Roll half the balls in confectioners sugar and coconut, then roll the other half in the chopped nuts. Refrigerate until serving. Note: This is a no-bake recipe.
how many does it make
Rayanne, I didn't know that anyone else ever really made monster cookies. My grandmother made them all the time and then froze them so we could have them anytime we wanted. You sure brought back some good memories with that cookie.
We froze ours too. It's the best way to eat them!!!! Here is the recipe: MONSTER COOKIES: Makes 22~>24 Dozen 1lb. butter 2lb. brown sugar 4c. white sugar 3lb. peanut butter 12 eggs 1lb. chocolate chips 1lb. M&M's (Plain) 8tsp. backing soda 1tbsp. White Karo Syrup 18c. oatmeal-add 1/3 at a time. Mix all ingreadients well. Do not overbake or cookies will get hard. Spoon on cookie aheet. Use tbsp. to spoon out. Bake at 325* for approximately 8 min.
Rayanne those sound good, I wonder...couldn't you just half all the ingrediants, but then you would still have nearly 12 dozen. I don't know much about shrinking the recipe, but it seems like it would work if you only used half of everything it calls for.
We've quartered the recipe before and it was just fine. When we made them we used to use an ice cream scoop to put them on the cookie sheets. They made one MONSTER-SIZE cookie.
Those sound yummy!! Thanks for sharing the recipe, Rayanne!
They are the best cookies in the world!!!! I think that I may make some this year. I'll try to just half the ingredients so there won't be soooo many.
Well, I decided on Chocolate Coconut Neapolians. They are delicious and I can't wait to hand them out tonight. I am feeling a bit riped off though since I put a great deal of time and energy in to these cookies and another person used store bought cooie dough to make hers
Oooh, Paula, would you mind posting the recipe for those? I love chocolate and coconut together. Sorry that you ended up feeling ripped off.
Sure, I'll put it on the recipe board tomorrow
