Bifocals
I ordered my first pair of bifocals tonight! He showed me far with the new prescription and then close-up. Then showed me my old prescription. I wondered how I could even see! LOL! Then showed me without glasses. Yikes! So, sometime over this next week, I will pick them up! Emily hadn't had her eyes checked in 2 years, either. Poor girl. We didn't realize her current glasses were basically useless! She needed much stronger glasses and he said that she must have done a lot of growing over this past year. Well, she's 12, she is supposed to be growing! LOL! He said, she will probably be amazed at the new glasses! So, we both picked out new glasses. I got blue ones and she picked out purple!
Dawn, one thing to remember with bifocals - when you are stepping down or up, especially down (a curb, or steps), tilt your head down so you are looking through the non-reading part of the lens so that you have the right distance perspective. Speaking as someone who wears trifocals and has for at least ten years.
I've been nearsighted for many, many years, but at 46, I'm reaching the point where my arms are a bit too short. I'm considering the no-line bifocals - not for vanity's sake, because I don't have a problem with a line - but because of the gradation of focus. Anyone have these? I think they're called Varilux progressive lenses (or verilux?)
Mine have the line. I never needed glasses until I got old, so I don't care if the lines show.
I'm getting the no-line ones. He said it would be easy for me to get used to them, since I wear my glasses all the time anyway.
DH recently got the no line bifocals. I haven't heard any complaints but will ask him what he thinks. He did comment that they took a little getting used to. I went for an eye exam last week. I'm near sighted and have glasses but don't need them often. It had been about 3-4 yrs. since my last exam so I just assumed I'd need a new prescription. I was tickled to learn my prescription hasn't changed! No need to spend $ on new glasses! Woo hoo!
Wow, that's great that you didn't need new glasses. After 3-4 years, though, I would just want new glasses, anyway! LOL! I know the no-lines take a bit of getting used to. I have watched other people go through it!
