Holiday theft
Lesson learned today: I went to store today with Jessica. I wanted to find her a skirt or skort and a holiday shirt for this coming weekend (christmas party). Well, she was trying on stuff and I had a cart with my things and my purse. I turned around for one second to hand her another shirt to try on and...a lady grabbed my cart and started for the front of the store. I immediately ran after her and grabbed my purse yelling what did she think she was doing. She pretended to not speak english and left. It all happened so quickly. I was too stunned to stop her--not sure if I could have anyway. Dumb-Dumb-Dumb! I should know better. One more second and she would have been out the door with my purse. I definitely need to be more careful! Yvonne
Wow Yvonne, Im glad it turned out good for you. I have learned, you can never be too careful.
Good grief! The nerve of people. I do the same thing- so thanks for the reminder.
Glad things turned out okay! I've tried to be extra cautious because I cashed my Christmas bonus to use for gifts and I'm not used to carrying that much cold hard cash around. It is scary!
I am so glad it turned out well - you don't need me to tell you it could have been disastrous. When I go Christmas shopping, I have either a belly pack (fanny pack but I wear it in front), or I have my wallet in one front pocket of my jeans and my keys in the other front pocket, or I have a very small shoulder strap purse that holds my credit cards, cash, a comb, lipstick, and date book - I cross the strap over my shoulder and keep it in front of me at all times. I can't tell you how many times I have been in the supermarket and seen women with their purses in the child seat - I always make a point of stopping and speaking to them and telling them how nervous I get when I see that because I know it is an invitation to theft. I guess because I've lived in big cities most of my life I am more cautious than some, but malls are just like big cities and this is the worst time of the year for theft of all kinds.
I was actually at Wal-mart about a week ago and my cart was beside me with my purse in it. I was looking at something on the shelf and one of the store staff came up to me and told me NOT to leave my purse in my cart b/c they had already had 3 purse thefts. Good reminder.
WOW!!! I'm glad that you got it back. I will have to watch my stuff more closely too.
