Holiday Gift Basket Ideas
I have been trying to come up with some ideas for holiday gift baskets. I'd like to do something homemade and not spend a fortune on each. My SIL makes tons of cookies so I don't really want to do those. I think that I am going to make chocolate covered pretzels but that's all that I can come up with! What do you girls do?
buy some double stuff oreos and some sucker sticks. put the sticks in the oreo adn dip in chocolate. let chocolate harden adn bushel them together with some celaphane wrap. make some yummy chocolate adn is pretty inexpensive.
candy 1 bag chocolate chips 1 bag butterscotch chips 1 cup peanut butter 1+ cups cocktail nuts melt in microwave stir in nuts and drop on cookie sheet. put in fridge to harden and you have yummy candy. I also make my own candles and the candy in a tin and candle go in a gift bag for neighbors, coworkers, etc--everyone we need to give a little gift to
What about a mug from the dollar store, a few packs of instant hot chocolate, some cinnamon sticks tied together with ribbon, a few clear plastic (or red or green) spoons with the bowls dipped in chocolate,a small bag of marshmallows the pretzels...
What about a keep in touch type basket, make an assorment of cards and envelopes, you could include a pocket sized birthday calendar or tiny address book.
This is from an old Parent's Magazine, I saved the page. Mint Hot Chocolate Cheer: 2/3 c sugar 1/3 c unsweetened cocoa powder 1 1/3 c non fat dry milk 1 2/3 c mint flavored chocolate chips 2 tbs crushed peppermint candies Layer into a glass jar in order listed. Seal and decorate lid if desired. Attach card with directions: Pour the contents of bottle into a large saucepan. Add 3 1/2 cups of Low-fat milk, or water. Stir over medium heat until all candy is melted and drink is creamy and hot. Pour into mugs, add marshmallows if desired, or a candy cane stirrer. Enjoy! I also like to use sugared nuts, especially pecans since they are huge in TX. I've got to look for the recipe, but I'll post it later!
