Does anyone have either of these washer and dryers?? We are looking to get a new set and I LOVE the idea of the front loaders with the dryer that actually keeps up with the washer and the huge capacity. I have heard of mold problems with the Neptunes, but is that something from a few years ago that has been fixed, or is this still a current issue? Which do you have and how do you feel about it?? Thanks!!

My mother has a Neptune and absolutely loves it!! She is moving, in fact, and doesn't care about bringing anything to her new place except the Neptune washer/dryer!!

I will ask her about the mold and see what she says (she has never mentioned it though!!)

The older Maytag front loader like I have had the mold problem and they try to fix it but nothing seems to help. The Neptune is their new version and they claim to have solved the problem. I have one friend that has one and she hasn't had the mold problem with hers. I still love my front loader. We just started leaving the door open and no more problem.

We ordered the Kenmore Elite HE4t washer and dryer along with the pedestals! I can't wait for them to come. Thanks for all of your input!! Now, next question... I have heard people say that they have to use the special HE detergent and others say that they use regular detergent, but only half the amount. Which do you do? I am not sure that my favorite detergent comes in HE yet!!

I recommend using the HE detergent. My parents got a front loader a couple years before we did. Dad, who is always trying to save a buck, insisted on getting regular detergent and using using half the amount. He later warned me to use HE detergent because the regular stuff doesn't work well. He didn't go into details but if he was willing to pay for HE detergent I wasn't going to argue. LOL!
