Any front loading washer owners out there?
I have a girlfriend that has a Kenmore Elite HE3t washer and dryer and swears by it. It does tons of jeans or towels at one time and I want to know if others like it as much. I just went to the Sears sight and they now have the Elite HE4t...lol They are very pricey so I want to know if they truly do cut down on laundry time, and such. Anything to help me get it done!
I have a Kenmore HE3 washer and dryer, the model just below the HE3t. LOVE them! Did my research at Consumer Reports before choosing which make and model. I bought them on-line last year when they had a sale. Cheaper than the store. They delivered, installed and removed my old washer and dryer within a week.
Sight...lol I meant site! Trina so glad to know you love it..Anyone else?
When my washer goes the way of the dinosaurs I am going to replace w/ one of these. They are supposed to be SUPER effecient, also you may want to see if there is a tax break, in oregon you get a tax write off for energy effecient appliences.
My best friend just bought the HE4t set and she calls them her luxury appliances. She told me if it would just fold the laundry for her, she'd never have a complaint about laundry again. I guess it would be obvious that she really loves it.
When we moved, we had an appliance guy that came out and hooked up our washer and dryer. I asked him about the front end washers/dryers. He said they are definitely worth it if you can afford them. He said, as far as the front end loaders, the best brand was Kenmore. I have a friend that got some last year. I don't remember the brand though. She said they are awesome!!
I have the HE3T's with the sanitary cycle for the washer. I love them! They are not fast, but you can do almost two top loader loads in one. They use a minimal amount of water and soap and are reallly gentle on your clothes because there is no agitator. The dryer is great. My sister has the Whirlpool Duet. They are actually made by the same company as the Kenmore ones. Great product!! Ame
I love our front loading Maytag. I do manage larger loads, cleaner, less fading, less water, etc. But the model we bought 2 1/2 years ago has had some issues. First it was moldy. Maytag sent a guy to replace seals. Better but still some probs. Then we got a notice from Maytag about the mold issue and an electronic board that burns out. They would either replace it or upgrade and them pay to a certain amount (for us they'd pay about $850 toward the newest model). Guess what happened just a couple of days after we got the notice? The board burned out. They replaced it free. And now we have 3 1/2 years. If we have anymore probs, they will help us upgrade at a prorated amount. Otherwise, I love the front loader. And Maytag has done everything free of charge so far.
My sister has a Maytag front load washer and had similar problems, Debbie. She warned me about the mold issue, which from what I understand, is a front loader problem, not just Maytag. I have avoided it by always keeping my washer door ajar so it can dry out. I forgot and closed it once, and definitely noticed a musty odor the next time I used it.
We do the same thing. The new seal didn't stop the mold problem. It just started clean again. We just leave the door open now. But if you can deal with that, it's great. I'd buy another one in a heart beat.
I have the whirl pool duet washer and dryer and LOVE them !!!!! They have cut my laundry time in half. I would highly recommend them , especially if you have a large family. What`s a nice feature of the duet`s is that they are stackable. We don`t have a large laundry room so they worked out nice for us. Also they are very efficient. They use less electricity and water.
My husband works for Whirlpool where they make all Whirlpool, Kenmore, Roper, KitchenAide, and Estate washers. The Duet is the only one not made right down the street - it is actually made in Germany. I got my Duet set about 1 month ago - and has my world changed! Before we couldn't keep up with laundry, now I have to actually wait for enough clothes to justify washing them. It has really changed my life. I have the pedalstools too. They are mostly for raising the units up so you don't have to bend over. The plant is presently enlarging the pedalstool to hold the bottles of detergent. It is also getting easier and easier to find the detergent in all stores. Boy I love my washer and dryer! I am going to share the comments with my hubby. BTW - the baby duets are not a good idea unless you live alone. Not equal to the others. Cathy
I am going to go to Sears Outlet and see what they have. Thanks for all of the great help and reviews.
Word of advice to anyone looking into front load washers... BUY THE PEDASTALS (sp?)!! I didnt and I hate bending over so low to get my clothes in/out. I also would love to have the new Elite models. My neighbor got them and LOVES them. I have the older Kenmore frontloads (much smaller load capacity). They are about 5-1/2 yrs old now. I'd love to get the new ones in the next yr or two. (but that may not happen! lol) Dh said when we build our next house I should have 2 washers/driers put in! lol I am glad he noticed how much laundry I do. ;)
If you buy the risers, then you can't use them to fold laundry on top of, and they're too high to use as counters. Also, a kid won't be able to help with the laundry. My three year old helps by taking the wet out of the washer and putting them in the dryer.
I don't have the pedastals and don't miss them for the same reasons Amecmom mentioned above.
Well, I guess I am confused then. I dont know how the risers would keep a kid from reaching? Do they raise them up that high? Wow! I have a 12yo and 10yo that are starting to do their own laundry and even they think we should get them. I am thinking that my machines are different (smaller) than what you ladies have tho! The new machines must be taller without the risers or something. As for folding clothes, I have never folded them on top of my washer/drier. So if you are use to doing that then that would be something to consider for sure. I always fold them on the couch or on my bed (uhhhh that way i can watch tv at the same time- blushing- lol!) So that wouldnt be an issue for us either. My laundry room is too cramped to stand and fold. Wish we had a bigger laundry room too. I am full of *wants*, eh!? ;)
