Which One?
Fisher-Price Power Touch Learning System Leapfrog Leap Pad I was thinking about asking for one of these for Rylee for Christmas, but am not really sure which one? Does anyone own one of these or something else besides these that are good? TIA.
Kaitlyn has the Little Leappad for I believe 18 months - 3 years. Shes just now showing a mediocre interest in it. I might go with the Fisher Price Toy because it seems like it has a few more perks than the Leappad.
I agree with Melissa. Timmy has the leappad and though it is nice, he doesn't do a whole lot with it and he's 2 1/2.
Nico has both of these. He calls the Power Touch his "laptop". It is a little easier because there is no pen involved. You just touch with your fingers. Out of the two, I think he prefers the Power Touch. Also, with the PT, you never have to upgrade, you just buy the books in the appropriate age group. One thing though, Rylee may still be a bit young to show much interest to either. I think with Leap Pad, they have systems for younger children. Nico has My First Leap Pad which he received last year at almost 3 years old. He was not too into it at the time.
Hailey has the little touch leap pad, it has a pillow back...she really likes it, I think it depends on the child, no pen involved with this one just touch and it has plenty of fun sounds and music.
My dk's were 2 and 5 last christmas and they got the power touch for christmas. They did not touch them at all. Personally I would not buy them for a kid you dk's age unless you really think she will use it. I am frustrated that I have two brand new ones that have hardly been touched.
I agree with Beth. Most kids don't seem to use these very much, esp for the price. I am generally disgusted with the amount of electronic toys now anyway. I highly recommend regular old toys like Mr. Potato Head, dolls, Little People playsets, etc. I think most electronic toys impede play skills and language development instead of helping it along, so I usually suggest the old stand-bys to most parents when they ask me for my toy suggestions, esp. this time of year.
