The one job that I would hate!!
You know, who ever has the job of folding fitted sheets after they are made can't be paid enough money!! Can anyone out there tell me how to fold these crazy things that they actually look folded and not just all balled up?? I try so hard to do it nice and it never turns out right!!! Oh how I would hate to have that job!!
I second that. I never fold my sheets because it seems useless!
I fold mine on the bed. Lay it out upside-down with the four inches or so that is always in the way folded flat to the rest of the sheet. Act like that is just a huge hem and fold like you would a flat sheet. This is much easier if you can convince your dh to help. It still doesn't look perfect but it's the best way I've found. BTW, no amount of $$$ in world could convince me to do that all day, day in and day out!
I fold mine with no problem, but I don't know quite how do explain it. I match up the corners & put them inside each other. Then I lay it down & fold the sides over enough to even everything out. Then finish folding like I do the flat. Does that make sense?
I fold mine similarly to Cori. Oldest DD wasn't even aware you *could* fold fitted sheets - she thought I was kidding!
I don't fold them...I'm going to be sleeping on them and it's dark, so I don't care if they're wrinkled or not, so long as they're clean!
Martha was Oprah a few years ago and she explained how! Very similar to Cori. Take all four corners and tuck them into one another. You have a big square with extra on two sides. Fold that extra flat like you would if you were going to iron a collar flat. Then from that side fold it in third, then take the other side and finish the third. Then do the same from the top.
I do the same, but in the basement next to the dryer. Match up the corners, hold up with "side" of sheets on the side and matched top/bottom at top, fold roughly into thirds the long way (side to side) over the corners, and then in half or thirds or whatever fits on your shelf or in your drawers. I just showed my youngest son (36) how one person can fold double bed sheets without help. Honestly!
I do what Emily does. I tuck all the corners together, make it into somewhat of a rectangle and fold them up!
I got this in a helpful hint article. (by the way I am miserable at folding the fitted sheet) If you fold the top sheet, the fitted sheet, and one pillowcase and then put it in the other pillowcase and fold it over it gives you a nice bundle so that you always have the full change of sheets all together without hunting. Works great.
That's what I do! And then it really doesn't matter what your fitted sheet looks like, for all of you that don't want to bother with it.
