Well, I tried for weeks to talk her out of it. I hate pageants- and she is not a thin girl. (She is 15). I broke down and bought the dresss. Dreaded the pageant which was tonight. My stomach hurt all day I was so nervous. She- on the other hand was fine.

To make this long story short- she got in the finals- could have blew me over. She didn't place in the top 3, but it was pretty good anyway.

I don't have any family here in Alabama to share this with so that is why I am rambling to ya'll. Thanks for letting me.

Congratulations! I won our Jr. Miss pageant in high school and never did another. It sure was a boost to my self-esteem. I'd love to see pics.

BTW, I know how you feel about the whole pageant thing I won't put either of mine in one and boy do I hear it from the family, but if they want to when they get older, that's up to them.

Thats great! I'm not big into pageants either. I don't want my daughter to just concentrate on looks. (I admit I don't know much about how they work, etc. I'm sure in this day & age its about more than looks). But that is great that she came in the finals. I know I would be proud if that was my daughter.

Thats great! I'm not much of a pageant fan either because I dont want my DD to start thinking about her weight at a very early age.

But thats good that she made it so far in the pageant!

I'm very happy for her! And I'm very impressed that this young lady made a goal for herself and went for it on her own. Although we're not into pageants, I respect those who prepare so diligently for them. I know how much work it takes.
