Wisdom Teeth
Has anyone who had their wisdom teeth actually go through the gums experienced headaches? I know its the reason why and my headaches are horrible, migraine like! I've been resting on the couch pretty much all day and I {{{gasp}}} took a few hours off the internet! I didn't think they (or the 1 tooth) would come through so quickly and it bugs. Besides the horrible headaches, my gums are sore and food gets caught back there. I know i'm gonna have to get them removed soon, i'll try to use the excuse of the holidays coming up to postpone it, but i'm going to need some hugs and a lot of motivation to get me through... oh yes and a double dose of vicodin to get me to the office!
I need to have my wisdom teeth out, too. I get awful headaches, through my jaws and into my forehead. Advil is the only thing that can even touch the pain. I'm not one to talk, but having your wisdom teeth removed is really important. They can decay much easier than the rest of our teeth and get infected. Lots of hugs from me, I feel your pain!
As a person who isnt too crazy about the dentist, wisdom teeth arent too bad to have them removed. I have had 2 taken out and they really didnt bother me too much afterwards. I did however really need them out so it may have just been relief. And yes they can cause headaches and you really should have them pulled.
Ouch! You are making me glad that I got my wisdom teeth out, back when I was about 23-24! I had all 4 out at once and other than the first 24 hours or so, wasn't really in that much pain! I just had to be careful what I ate for about the next week or two. (cheese and crackers hurt about a week later) I agree, sounds like they need to come out!
I think the headaches are caused by the pressure they are inadvertently putting on your jaw and other teeth. MY WT were fully formed and growing sideways and would never have come thru the gum but I had headaches too. Ibuprofen helps. There is another product over the counter that helps, too. It is Percogesic. It is acetaminophen (Tylenol) and an antihistamine that is relaxing. It actually helped more than the Advil but made me very sleepy. And for anyone who thinks I'm confused, I am not talking about Percocet or Percodan which are prescription narcotics. The Percogesic is over the counter but not very well known.
Okay so i'm not the only one. Maybe i'll go check out the Percogesic. I have to pay over $500 out of pocket for my share of the wisdom tooth removal so we have to save a bit of $$$, another reason for waiting until after the holidays. And my hubby has holiday leave from the 28th until the 8th so maybe i'll do it at the beginning of January. Oh sheesh, i'm scared!
Just one thing to be careful of... many times there just isn't enough room in your mouth for those teeth to come in. If you put off getting them out, it could really mess up your teeth. So not only are you dealing with the pain, you could also be really messing up the alignment of your teeth!!
I had all 4 taken out when I was 25. They were all impacted and became infected because I kept putting it off. NOT fun! Then I had to wait until the infection cleared before I could have the surgery to remove them. Do it and get it over with. You'll be glad!
{{{{{HUGS}}}}} I had to have my wisdom teeth taken out, and it wasn't as bad as I thought that it was going to be. I was really nervous and scared and everything, but it turned out fine. Hang in there, I promise that everything will be fine.
