We have coat hooks by our front door for all the kids. We have discovered if we leave ANYTHING hanging on them while we're all not home, Lucky, our wonderful little mini-schnauzer, will pull everything down and drag them through out the house. So we put everything either on the table, kitchen counter or the wall that's by the stairs to the basement (about 4' high). I have this little backpack with diapers, snacks, wipes and such for quick trips that I can just grab and go. So a little while ago we head out to Wal-Mart and I put everything up, including this little backpack on the wall. We come home to find this backpack and all it's contents scattered EVERYWHERE!!! Also, my clipboard with my sign in sheets, reminder flyers (for early pick ups, etc) and emergency phone numbers is ALSO on the floor. Well Lucky isn't that tall. Who do you think knocked these things off the wall for Lucky to play with??? HIS HIGHNESS!!! That would be the snotty cat, Gizmo. Argh. He likes to lay up there on the wall and tease Lucky because he can't reach him there (the window sills are another favorite spot, for the same reason). Lucky tore up a couple diapers, had baby wipes scattered all over my dining room floor, ripped open a bag of pretzels (and had a snack!), and tore open a little baggie of m-n-m's that I have in there for the potty training kids for rewards (doesn't look like he ate any, just scattered them really well!). So I guess we won't be putting things on the wall anymore. *sigh* Kids (even the four legged ones!)...

Oh, absolutely your pet animals will conspire. And you can't really take away any privileges, either.

I recommend cabinets with doors/drawers to put things in with animals. Otherwise, you are potentially in trouble.

Ginny, I have a coat closet, but with the kids karate bags and equipment in there, along with all our extra jackets (which I'd love to cut that number in half!!! There are several we never wear) there's no room left in there. Maybe this weekend I'll try and clean it out and put some hooks in there. I still need the hooks for daycare kids things, but at least the stuff that's here all the time could be out of site (and animal's reach!).
