Wine Drinkers
What are you favorite types of wine? DH and I fill our wine rack up every few months and that time is nearly here. We have a few *favorites* but want to try something new. We are more into white wine but are willing to try reds. Our favorites as of now are: White Zinfandel (of course ) Sweet Marie Muscat Canelli (and Mucatto )(sp?). White Merlot ... we've tried a few others that we like but I cant think of the names off the top of my head. So what are recommendations you guys have?
This is an Ohio wine, but it is my all time favorite!! It is called Frost Fire and here is the site that you can order it online! It is cheap wine, but oh soooo good!! http://www.breitenbachwine.com/store_fr.htm
We are more into reds than whites. Especially in the winter. I go by regions rather than brands, and we try a lot of different winerys so I don't really have a favorite. We tend to buy spanish, argentinian, chilean, etc. Although, lately, I've come to love the "pumpkin smash" martini. Which is totally off the wine subject but really good, like pumpkin pie in a glass.
Oooohhhh explain that pumpkin smash martini, i'm interested!
Another request for the pumpkin smash martini, please!
I'm a merlot drinker.
Pumpkin smash martini 2 parts Stoli vodka, chilled 1 part Bols Pumpkin Smash Liqueur 1 part creme de cacao Combine Stoli and pumpkin liqueur in a shaker with ice; shake well and strain into the pumpkin. Serve with a black straw. Some places also use baileys in it so you could do 1/2 creme de cacao and 1/2 baileys. Take the martini glass and do a cinnamon and sugar rim on it before you pour the martini.
I am fond of the Gewertzehi...... ok so I dont know how to spell it and I sure dont know how to say it, but it is a nice fruity sweetish white wine, also fond of reisling. OH and the pumpkin martini sounds killer
Well my first thought was a quote I heard from my FIL, if you are drinking pink wine, you aren't really a wine drinker What that probably means is you are not probably going to like a lot of the full bodied red wines, it takes some getting used to! It really is an aquired taste. I have found that I like certain brands, Kendall Jackson, nice safe not too expensive, I really like their merlot, the white is okay. Also Yellowtail is a fav brand of mine. When it comes to reds, really read the label, read the description and then when you drink it and like it you will know what to look for. Also Olive garden often does wine samples to taste some different things for a couple of bucks (sometimes free). One more thing, a Pinot grigeo (spelled wrong) tends to be a bit lighter and fruiter and closer to a white zinfindale.
I was going to say Pinot Grigio. I like white wines too, just because they are chilled. I'm not big into drinking anything that isn't cold (don't like coffee or cider or hot tea either!)
Chardonnay. The cleanest wine you can drink.
I like white wine.My favorite and usually the only kind I buy is Reunite Bianco. DH does not like wine at all. So when I do have a glass, not to often it Bianco with ice.
Three Theives--California Zinfindel or Cabernet Sauvignon are both very good. I am more of a white zin drinker but this Cabernet was not too dry and was just a tad sweet which really made it taste good. I also love Ferrante's wine. It is a Ohio wine made about 45 minutes from where i live. My favorites of theirs are Pink Catawba, and Bianco.
I love White Zinfandel. I just tried a red wine the other night and it was pretty good considering I don't really like red wine. It was called Red Rosea(SP?)
We're not too far from the Temecula Wine Country and Julian where there are tons of wineries. We've tried a few that our friends have brought back but have yet to make it out there ourselves. I'll have to write down a few of these recommendations and try them until I can get out to wine taste.
My favorite wines: White Zinfandel (although, I was sick of it for a while, because it's all my parents ever served at family gatherings. After a long break from it, I think it's good again Shiraz (Lindemann's, Rosemount, or Stonehaven - Australian wines, available locally) Trebbiano (fruity Italian wine available at my FAVORITE Italian restaurant)
Do you have a Cost Plus near you? They often have wines from our favorite vineyard: Bonny Doon Winery. Their labels are all fun with stories behind them (which they always tell when you go in wine tasting). My favorite white from there is the Pacific Rim Reisling.
we don't buy much wine but when I do its usually just Arbour Mist.
Wine gives me a headache (as does any malt liquor) there is some compound in it that I can't tolerate....HOWEVER, reading this post has made me want a White Chocolate Martini ;) Vodka does NOT give me a headache, lol!
Apparently, I need to drink more! Or at least develop a wider variety of drinks. Can I get the recipe for a White Chocolate Martini, too, please? I really like Fetzer Vineyards Johannisberg Riesling. Fruity, with apricots and pears.
Chilean wine`s are great !
White Chocolate Martini: Stoli Vanilla Vodka, Creme de Cacao (in equal parts), shaken with ice and poured into a martini glass with a wedge of white chocolate at the bottom. (Yum....) I discovered this at a local restaurant. For some reason, it tastes better when they make it, lol!
