Question for the E-Bayers!!!
I'm new to the whole E-Bay thing, but, I figured I had so many of my DDs clothes and my DSF was a big Marilyn Monroe collector, and once he passed away, my mother just didn't want them hanging around. So far, I'm doing well. But, my quesiton is, "Why, when you put in a Reserve Price for something that you are selling, do you not get to see what the people are bidding??? You just see that there are so many bids, but the Reserve hasn't been met! Am I doing something wrong? Or is that just the way it is? TIA
That is the way it is. Until they reach the reserve all you know is reserve has not yet been met.
Well, that's just not fair (I'm stomping my foot!!!! ) Thanks!!! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.
I've always been able to see the high bid on my sales, even if the reserve has not been met. Are you looking at My Ebay?? Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question, but I've never had that issue!
I thought that was pretty stupid myself, but, I'm checking on My Ebay and all it will tell me is "Your Reserve has not been met, although there are bids." Just a little frustrating... but, at least I know there are bids, so, I'll have to relist, but without the reserve, just start the opening bid slightly higher!!!! Woe is me..... hehehehehe!!! Thanks you guys!
Angellew, can you post a link to the auction? I realize I won't be able to look at the part you look at, but this is really odd to me. It may be something you are doing when you list it, or maybe I'm losing my mind!!! Also, at the end of the auction they will HAVE to tell you the high bid, reserve met or not, because you have the option of sending a "Second Chance" for that bid if you want.
Can't you just go to the item and see what the current bid is, as though you were going to buy it? Everyone should be able to see what the current bid is, even though the reserve has not been met. Ame
Also if your reserve is not met by the end you are free to offer it to the person that had the highest bid if you are willing to accept the price... i know this cuz it has happened to me that someone has offered it at what my final bid was even though i did not meet their reserve... i am a BIG TIME ebayer...lol selling and buying!
I've not been brave enough to try selling anything yet though I've got enough baby clothes to open my own store. Seems easy enough but I'm still a little bit nervous about it.
Amanda, You should try it!! I sell all the kids old clothes, unless they have a special meaning to me. Clothes are in big demand, and small lots of 2-5 or so are very popular. Ebay will walk you right through it, it's very much worth it!
Maybe this weekend I'll sit down and try some of it. How do you determine shipping though? Is that something that you do or they do or both? I think that's the part that always gets me.
Crystal, I definitely did something wrong! They didn't tell me what the high bid was either!!! Just that there were five bids and the reserve wasn't met!! Oh well. Live and learn!!! This is my first attempt at selling!!! I have already relisted the item, this time without the reserve! As for the kids old clothes... just a little question... what do you usually start your bidding at for used clothes? The only LOT of clothing that I've sold so far was my DDs 6-9 months stuff and more than 50% of it was NWT or NWOT. So, I've never listed anything that was all used! Thanks!!
