Thanks for posting this. The kids were just asking me this morning "what time?" and now I don't have to go look for the info!
I love to watch this!!! DS does to but I am sure he will be well asleep before it get part of the way thru.
This is supposed to be a "Pumpkin" eclipse, in that while Earth blocks the direct light of the sun, the moon will, for a time, look orange like a pumpkin, reflecting the outer rays of the sun. See, Linus was right - there is a Great Pumpkin!
LOL Ginny thats cute!!!
Can you find a way to make my clouds disappear so I can see it?? It's cloudy now and supposed to be cloudy and foggy tonight. I'm not holding out much hope.
I was just out with the dog and I can see the moon! There are only some thin clouds in front of it! Yay! It's about 6:55pm CDT by me.
It's 9:30 Central here and it's fully covering it now... Very cool.
unbelieveable!!
Oh my goodness...good thing I looked at this post I didn't even know anything about it...do I live under a rock?! lol Anyway, it is 10:12 p.m. here right now and we caught a glimpse of it, the moon is right out in my front yard no trees blocking the view or anything. I took the dks out to see it, thanks!
Camped out tonight in the back yard with my digital camera...see the pics in Photo Sharing. No wonder people in ancient times were terrified when things like this happened... Seeing a full moon disappear before your eyes is worth staying up for...
It was to cloudy here to see it.
Did anyone else take any pictures? It would be neat to see how it looked "around the world." (sadly, I forgot to). Maybe we can all post them in the photo board? But I saw it - very cool!
It was very cool. We had a break in the clouds, long enough to see it. Then the clouds started coming back and we could only see it once in a while. The clouds wheren't solid, so sometimes we could see it and sometimes we couldn't! The kids and I were sitting in our lawn chairs covered in quilts. We wonder what people thought as they drove by! LOL! It was fun bonding time with my kids. When we are outside watching an eclipse, or metors, Emily always gets freaked out by the fact that the universe goes on forever! LOL! After Sarah got bored and went back in the house, Emily was telling me about her last 2 school days. I guess outside, we were undistracted by tvs or computers.
It was too cloudy here, too.
We took our dk's to a nearby park to watch because our house is surrounded by trees and we really enjoyed it (although the dk's are tired and cranky today). Thanks for posting the times. I have never watched a lunar eclipse before. The color of the moon at totality was neat. I thought it would just sort of be, well, gone. I wish I had remembered to take my camera.
My DH was running between the Red Sox game and the deck with his binoculars!!!! He was so excited about both events... little kid excited. You could hear him in the yard yelling "Wow... come look at this!!" It really did look a dark orange, almost red... which only convinced my DH more that it was for the Sox!!!!
I missed the full eclipse-but I did get to see it when it was quite orange. I'm actually kind of bummed cause I fell asleep waiting to see the end of the world series and the eclipse-I missed both! Grrrr.
