Just got back from the vet, and Pretzel had a seizure on the exam table, which is good, I guess, so the vet could see what was going on. The bad news is that she has brain damage and will only get worse, probably developing meningitis, and have lots of pain. So. I had the choice of putting her to sleep on the spot, bringing her home for my girls to say good-bye, or just waiting for the inevitable. I choice the second. So here I am at work, fighting tears, thinking of what tonight's going to be like when I tell them. It wasn't supposed to be like this. Keep us in your thoughts, would you? We really love Pretzel.

Oh Janet I am so sorry. I think you made the right choice. I know if I were in your situation, my family would want to be able to say good bye too. I will keep your whole family and pretzel in my thoughts and prayers. Again, I am so very sorry.

I also think you made the right choice but it really is a choice of the lesser of 3 evils. Lots of hugs and a shoulder if you need it. It is so hard to lose a member of the family.

We lost one of cats while we were on vacation this summer. She got really sick and couldn't walk while we were away. The neighbor watching her brought her to the vet and they said it was likely a stroke or a fast growing tumor. She was 13. We weren't scheduled to get back for another week so we had to make the decision to put her to sleep long distance. I was racked with guilt for not being able to say goodbye or to hold her when they gave her the shot. You made the best decision possible and cry all the tears you need! My girls still talk about our cat in kitty cat heaven.

{{{{HUGS}}}} I am so sorry. There really is no easy way to deal with the sickness and death of a beloved pet! My heart truly goes out to you and your family.

I went through this just this past summer. My Cosmo was sick and the 2 different vets told me the best thing for him was to be put to sleep. I cried for days just thinking about it. Luckily, for me, my DH was not completely convinced of the diagnosis and refused to have him put down right away. So, Cosmo is still home with us and healthier than ever!!!! Even the vets cannot believe it's the same cat. But, that cannot take away the almost month I spent crying about losing him. Someday, I will have to go through it again, and I know, I still won't be prepared.

Again, I am so sorry.

Sorry sorry to hear this. I had to put my cat down when she was 11, she had cancer. I know how hard it is.
