Pumpkin Seeds
I am thinking about baking the seeds from our pumpkin this year. I have NEVER done this before. What do you use to season them? I know that there are different things to use, but I wanted to see different ideas.
I usually use just salt, My DS likes them with garlic salt. I guess you could use any seasoning you like. I just love them the old salted way.
Salt and butter here... I love them!
same here, I just use salt and they are soooo good!
I spread rinsed seeds out on a Baking Sheet then I bake them at 350 for about 15-20 minutes with Kosher Salt on them. About 10 minutes or so into the baking I stir them around a bit. You can season them any way you like but I love them salted.
Spicy Roasted Pumpkin Seeds pumpkin seeds olive oil salt cayenne pepper cumin Separate the seeds from the stringy pumpkin guts, rinse well and dry with paper towels. For each 2 cups of pumpkin seeds, mix in a bowl: 2 TB olive oil, 1 tsp cayenne pepper, 1/2 tsp cumin and 1 tsp salt. Add seeds to bowl and toss to coat evenly. Then spread out on a baking sheet. Roast in an oven preheated to 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Stir the seeds every 10 minutes or so during the roasting so that they will cook evenly. Barbecue Pumpkin Seeds 1 c Pumpkin seeds 2 tsp Vegetable oil 1/2 tsp Paprika 1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce 1/4 tsp Salt 1/8 tsp Garlic powder 1/8 tsp Onion powder 1/8 tsp Hickory barbecue flavoring dash Cayenne pepper Remove seeds from pumpkins interior. Place the seeds into a bowl of warm water and clean off all the slimy strings. Measure 1 cup of seeds, pour them onto paper towel, and pat dry. Pour the oil into a saucepan. Add the seeds and seasonings. Place the pan over medium-high heat. ***You can add any seasoning to the oil. I've added curry, onion powder and sugar. Fry the seeds, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, for 6 to 8 minutes, or until they puff up slightly. Remove pan from heat, and allow the seeds to cool. Serve the seeds immediately or store in an airtight container.
ooh! I *love* these. These are my favorite part of the season. Andi's and Bea's directions are about what I do.
