My dh surprised me today
I have a dream job. I work in my neighbor's studio (she's a glass artist) in her basement from 10am-1pm four days a week. My dh just changed jobs this week to a place much closer to home. Well today, around 12:15, my neighbor and I were working when the phone rang. It was my dh, he asked me when I could take lunch because he had come home and made lunch for the both of us. Needless to say, I wrapped things up pretty quickly and headed for home. I thought that was so sweet of him! We used to meet at home on our lunch hours and eat together before we had kids, but we hadn't been able to do that in years and it was so nice to have a quiet relaxing lunch together again. I hope that he's able to come home like that more often!
That's so sweet of him!! Hope you enjoyed your lunch break!!
How nice! Remind me...are you the one who posted a while back wondering if you should accept this job?? You were going to have to stop sitting for a friend's child or something in order to take this job? If I have my story straight, I just want to say I'm glad you ended up with the job and that's it's working out for you! If I'm mixed up, well, that's nothing new!
Yes Kate, I'm the one who posted about quitting watching my friend's children in order to take this job. I guess I must not have posted about how that all worked out so here's an update-- I quit watching my friend's dks at the end of January this year. It was very hard because my friend was so upset that I was quitting, but we worked things out and she found another sitter for the summer and now our dks all go to the same preschool and she takes them in the morning and I work from 10am until it's time to go pick up the kids. Then I bring them back to my house for about 15 minutes until she gets home from work. All-in-all, it is working out very well for us and her little girl isn't quite the "problem child" that she was a year ago, thank goodness. My job in the glass studio is wonderful and I love it! I have learned so much, it is fun, and the pay is good (I'll probably be singing a different tune in the spring when I have to do my taxes as a subcontractor for the first time). My boss lets me make my own hours so I only work while my ds is in school and I take Fridays off so that I can help out in my dd's class while my ds is in school and then I will get the months of January and February off. I feel very fortunate to have such a flexible job. It is a dream job in every way.
That's great! I'm happy for you!!
Awwwwwwww, that's so sweet! Stacy, what do you do at the studio???
Thanks Kate! Karen, I make fused glass items such as coasters, trivits, plates of all sizes from 4 1/2" to 16", lightswitch plates, mirrors, picture frames, etc - basically everything but the artwork that my boss signs. If she needs to sign something as an original piece of art then she does all the work on it herself. I do everything that doesn't need to be signed as "art". We are working on some new items right now. My boss says she loves having me there to do the stuff she's been doing for years because it gives her a chance to work on new ideas and bigger art pieces. You can see examples of what I do at my boss's website - www.lisasglassstudio.com The site is still under construction so everything is not on there, but it should give you a good idea of what I do.
Sorry to butt in, but I had to check out the site and those are incredible! I am so impressed, Stacy. How nice to have a perfect job that lets you make such beautiful items.
You got it made! LOL A good job, a thoughtful hubby, and (this IS incredible!) a great boss! I've always had jerks for bosses LOL, so I have a bit of envy over here. But I'm smiling as I type this- I'm happy for ya!
Nice products. It looks like a fun job. I'm so glad it's working out well. Appreciate that sweet hubby. He's a keeper.
