Birth control question
I know this question has been here many times, but I am posting it again. I have decided to go off of bc pills. I do not like taking hormones or the risks associated with them as you get older. I am thinking of either the IUD or diaphram, so I'd like feedback on either of those or what else you use (aside from depo, patch, tubes tied, or vasectomy).
At the moment we aren't using anything. Just being "careful". However, my very best friend uses the IUD. She used it for 4 years after her first was born. Once it was removed, she got pregnant within just a couple of months. She chose to use the IUD again after the birth of her second and she loved it again! She recently had her 3rd baby, and had the IUD put back in place at her 6 week check-up. She swears by it. She says she can't feel a thing, and neither can her DH. She said she has to "check" the IUD once a month.....I think right after her cycle. I didn't ask for details ;) I've considered the IUD for after we have our 4th and final baby. I'm anxious to see the responses to this thread!
well we use condoms right now. My dh and I wants to get a vasectomy, but I haven't been in a huge hurry although I look forward to not having to worry about it. That and now that I have a cycle we can know when I am the most fertile.
I've used a diaphram for almost 8 years. I like it an dh likes it. The only down-fall is taking it out in the next morning. It's kind of messy. Once you've used it a couple of times, it is really easy to get in and out. I think, however, that I am going to try a cervical cap. It is like a diaphram, but smaller.
We used for several years something called VCF, vaginal contraceptive film. It is a spermicide in the form of flim, think listerine breath strips. You fold it up and insert it, i want to say 15 minutes to 4 hours before needed. There is a little extra lubrication, but not like a typical spermicide. This replaced condoms for us, I had so many issues with the latex, but found these much easier, hubby prefered them also.
Just foam and sometimes condoms, too. If I'm at the sensitive time of the month, he pulls out. If not, he doesn't. So far, working for us. My baby is now 12-1/2.
I used IUD's and loved them.
I'd recommend just reading advice about natural family planning and using condoms until you get it down pretty good! Good Luck!
I didn't have alot of luck with BCP after Timmy was born so my doctor recommended an IUD. It works well and you cant' tell that it is there at all. I'm a big fan. Though I'm planning on having it removed so that we can try for #2 the end of this month, I am definately planning on using it again in the future.
