Need some help
My Dad will be celebrating his 60th birthday this year and I need some help finding some Dad related songs to play at the party.. We are having a huge suprise party at a community center. We are inviting old school mates and friends he hasn't seen in sometime. So if anyone knows any please let me know. I have until October 23. Thanks all
I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I know I've heard lots of country songs about fathers. I don't know how you feel about country, but I know you'd find some songs in that genre.
Thats what I am looking for mainly country. around his era and newer. My brother wants to use I don't need no rocking chair from George Jones. I can't think of any.
Butterfly Kisses, That's my job, and personally i like the song "the dance" by george strait for a daddy type song.
'Daddy's Hands' is sung by a country female singer. I don't know if you'd like the part, 'Daddy's hands were hard as steel when I'd done wrong' but other lines are nice like, 'Daddy's hands were soft and kind when I'd been crying'.
Butterfly Kisses is a great song. I danced to that with my DADDY on my Wedding Day.
I don't mean to correct anyone, but The Dance is buy Garth Brooks. A love without End, Amen, Is George Striat, and its great!!
Tim McGraw~>"Live Like You Were Dieing" is agreat song as well.
Song For Dad Lately I've been noticing I say the same things he used to say And I even find myself acting the very same way I tap my fingers on the table To the rhythm in my soul And I jingle the car keys When I'm ready to go When I look in the mirror He's right there in my eyes Starin' back at me and I realize The older I get The more I can see How much he loved my mother and my brother and me And he did the best that he could And I only hope when I have my own family That everyday I see A little more of my father in me There were times I thought he was bein' Just a little bit hard on me But now I understand he was makin' me Become the man he knew that I could be In everything he ever did He always did with love And I'm proud today to say I'm his son When somebody says I hope I get to meet your dad I just smile and say you already have The older I get The more I can see How much he loved my mother and my brother and me And he did the best that he could And I only hope when I have my own family That everyday I see A little more of my father in me He's in my eyes My heart, my soul My hands, my pride And when I feel alone And I think I can't go on I hear him sayin' "Son you'll be alright" Everything's gonna be alright" Yes it is The older I get The more I can see That he loved my mother and my brother and me And he did the best that he could And I only hope when I have my own family That everyday I see Oh I hope I see I hope everyday I see A little more of my father in me A little more of my father in me I hope everyday I see in me In me In me I hope everyday I see A little more of my father in me KEITH URBAN Daddy's Little Girl When You Say Nothing At All - Allison Crauss - Always Daddy - Melanie Trent - Butterfly Kisses - Bob Carlisle - Unforgettable - Nat King Cole & Natalie Cole - Sunrise, Sunset - Fiddler On The Roof - The Men In My Little Girl's Life - Michael Douglas -
Okay, two songs that make my dad tear up: Butterfly Kisses and I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack.
Wow, all those songs would send me right to a kleenex box! LOL! Especially Butterfly Kisses and Sunrise, Sunset!
I agree Dawnk777. Thank you everyone. I am putting together a Cd now. so any more let me know. thanks
My dad's in his sixties also, look for older singers like, Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash (Ring of Fire, seems to be a favorite), Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty George Jones/Tammy Wynette (The Jet Set) The Statler Brothers, Alabama, Dolly Parton (coat of many colors-AWESOME) Holly Dun (Daddy's Hands) Kenny Rogers (Island in the Stream) Pasty Cline, Marty Robbins, Ronnie Milsap Dottie West, Brenda Lee, Donna Fargo Jeannie Harper (Harper Valley PTA) Another great song is "Yellow Rose of Texas" it was sung by I believe Shelley West(it was a duet)
