Went to the doctor today (ovaries)
I went to the doctor because I thought I may have a bladder infection. Turns out, the pain is coming from my ovaries. It's been continuous for several days now. Mostly when I move. The doctor (actually a PA-C) said that it's possible I have ovarian cysts. But, he said they don't do much about them anyway, so it's no emergency. He said if I'm still in pain next week to come in for an ultrasound of the ovaries. I am so scared that there is a problem. What if it's cancer? We want to have another baby. I'm stressing that this could cause problems with that. The past year or so I've been having ovarian pain around the time of ovulation, and my cycles have been irregular. They were just getting back to normal, and now this. I guess I really don't have a purpose for posting this...mostly just venting....but if anyone has BTDT I would love to hear experiences. TIA
I haven't had good experiences with PA-Cs. Personally, I'd want to go to a real doctor and get another opinion. {{{HUGS}}}
I agree with Trina about getting a second opinion. I had cysts on one of my ovaries & the doctor sent me right away to have an ultra sound. The cyst went away on its own & I had 2 babies afterward.
I've had ovarian cysts since I was 13. They are quite painful. I was put on birth control at that time to help control them. I also have had 1 healthy child and have one on the way!
I also had one once. Hurt lots! I even had pain that ran down my leg from it. They didnt do anything for it and told me it would just go away on its own. But it sure did hurt! Hope you feel better soon.
I had those and endo, and ovarian pain was one of my endo symptoms. Jen's having a lot of ovarian pain also, but her ultrasound didn't show any cysts, etc. Maybe a 2nd opinion is the best thing to do.
Thanks Maybe a second opinion would be a good idea. Our regular physician moved, and we haven't found a new one yet. I'm glad to hear all the personal experiences though. Thanks for sharing.
Definitely a second opinion, from a gyne/ob. I had a large ovarian cyst on my right ovary which caused painful menstruation throughout my teen years. I had it surgically removed at age 20, and got pregnant four times after - 3 sons and a miscarriage. I am sure that treatment today is less drastic when possible. My ovary was removed because the cyst and the ovary were "involved" so that, given the surgical technology of the time, that was the only option. And I still have a large scar from just below my navel down to there. With laparoscopic surgery, newer knowledge and techniques, it might be much different today.
(((Robin))) Just thinking and praying for you. I agree with the other Ladies. I would also agree with Ginny to go to an ob/gyn.
Thanks. Last night it was feeling so much better, but this morning I'm back to square one. I am going to call on Monday and set up an appointment with a OB/GYN. Hopefully I won't have to wait too long.
