GRrrrr... WWYD?
In the past two days my brother's girlfriend (they still haven't gotten married) has sent me three seperate emails that have been false. I checked the urban legend site. Two about missing children and one political (Kerry bashing). So far, I've just been deleting them. Should I continue to delete them or send her the urban legend site addy and ask her to please check her stuff before forwarding it? I can't say I don't like this woman. I don't know her! They live in Michigan and I've only met her like once. My family doesn't like her, but they tolerate her because she's my niece's mother (20 months). I'm sure if I say something she'll be offended and think I just don't like her (like everyone else). It just really bugs me when people do this, ya know? WWYD?
What I've done with friends, relatives, etc. who send me these things is respond similarly to this: "Sounds scary, and I've seen this before, so I checked it out on snopes.com and you know what? It's an urban legend! I make it a habit to check things out there - it's a cool site - check it out!" See - I say it that way when I don't want to offend someone. Sometimes, I'll send the link to them. It sorta depends.
Ditto Kay..............
I usually just delete them.
Ditto Kay
I have the same problem & I think I will be taking Kays advice. I have just been quietly complaining to myself & deleting.
Thanx, Kay (and everyone else). I just sent her an email saying almost exactly what you said, Kay. Hope she doesn't take it the wrong way. Oh well if she does! lol It just irritates me when people send things like that out. It's funny, about two minutes after I posted this I got an email from a good friend with a story about President Bush and a guy named Bruce Vincent. It was really heart warming and then I thought, gee, wonder if that's true. So I looked it up and it said unknown (or something like that). Guess they couldn't prove it either way. Thanx again.
Ditto!
