Flu shot and pregnant women?
Yesterday during the news story on the flu vaccine shortage, they included pregnant women in the list of those who should get one. I was really surprised. I thought that would be one group of the population not to be recommened. What have you heard? I have never had one and never had a problem without it. However, this year, I am now 5+ months along and volunteering at DD's 1st grade class 2x a week. I'll be seeing my OB in a couple weeks and will certainly ask her, but wanted feedback from others here. (I already read the post under the parenting section)
My ob/gyn recommended it to me, too, but I refused it. I don't like vaccines in general and he wasn't happy I refused it. But anyway, it was recommended to me, too. I was about seven months along at the time.
I have heard as long as you're past 13 weeks, you should definately get one. From what I've heard, pregnant women are more prone to complications affecting the heart and lungs.

I have no clue. Ask your doc. I can tell you one of my daycare moms is 30 weeks and she got a stomach bug this past weekend (same one I and half my daycare families have had) and she ended up having contractions every five minutes and had to call her doc for a rx to stop them. I guess the force of vomiting (or puking, as her 4yo dd called it!) caused them to start. Scary. Take care of yourself, Dana.
I got one when I was pregnant with DD, and it didn't bother me at all physically. No side effects at all.
It was recommended once I was past the first trimester. I ended up getting mine end of December but OB still thought it was very important.
