Friends and getting sick
I have been super sick since Saturday. Achy, fever, chills, coughing hard enough to make my throat raw and the worst migraine like headaches that no medicine I took would get rid of. It's been horrible. I've done nothing but lay on the couch and *try* to rest. (Haha... rest while your husband is deployed????) Anyways, my neighbor (and best friend) came over last night and brought me and the kids dinner. She left it on the table while we were in the bath. When I got out I was so dizzy and faint feeling that I just laid on the couch. She came back over to check on me and realized how crummy I felt so she took the kids to her house, fed them and kept them there until bedtime. I was sick as a dog but felt like tearing up at the thought that I have such wonderful friends and a great support system while Steve is away. Today i'm feeling slightly better. My headache finally went away and now i'm just stuck with the worst cough and dry throat. At least I was able to get up today though. I haven't been this sick in years. And of course Murphy's Law would make it that I would get sick like this while DH is away. I'm a big baby and just wanted him here. No point in this really but I just can't seem to thank my friend enough for helping me out. I guess I figured I would just brag about her. LOL Oh, and I have roughly 2 1/2 months until the big homecoming!
Melissa, Sorry to hear that you are so sick! It sounds awful what you have, what a wonderful friend, that is a wonderful thing when your away from family and have no one near by to help with your little ones. I was sick back at Thanksgiving and then two weeks later even worse than the first time, I know how you feel. Hugs and well wishes for you and praying that your kids don't get what you've got!!
{{{{{Melissa}}}}} I remember when my dh left for a 6 month deployment two days after Christmas back in 1999. Two days after that I got SOOOO sick! I couldn't even make it all the way down the stairs in one trip to get the daycare parents phone numbers to call them. I had to rest on the landing half way down! My boys were 4 and 6 and it was SO hard! A good friend of mine came over and let me cry on her shoulder. I really think the stress of my dh leaving contributed to me getting sick. That may have something to do with your illness. Of course it may not, but stress can do weird things to your body. I'm glad you have such a great friend to be there for you. Oh, and if I remember correctly I think I posted something here about dh being gone, the kids taking advantage of me being sick and wanting my mommy! rofl Lots more hugs, Girl.
{{{HUGS}}} Your neighbor is an angel.
Sorry you feel so bad. Thank god, for someone like your friend. ((hugs))
UGH! Sounds like you have the flu! I hope you feel better soon. Better yet, I hope the kids don't get it. Thank God for friends like that!
It does sound like you have the flu, and I sure hope your kids don't get it. Yes, you have a wonderful neighbor - I would guess what she gave you was a "bread on the waters" kind of thing, because I suspect you are also a good neighbor.
Are you feeling any better tonight?
I actually feel MUCH better today, finally. My throat is still hoarse so I don't *sound* good but I feel normal. I couldn't wait to get well enough to wash our sheets and disinfect the house! Thanks for asking Karen!
Glad you are feeling better!
Sounds like the flu to me, too. Glad you are feeling better. Is the "bread on the waters" thing, kind what goes around, comes around? You guys must do nice things for each other.
Hey Melissa! Sorry I'm just now catching up on all these posts...I'm so sorry to hear that you've been sick. I always feel like "I need my mom" still when I get sick!!! Doesn't make it much better when DH is deployed. I'm thinking of you and am envious of the support you have. With 2 kids, it is such a necessity. Glad you're feeling better though!! Have you heard from your DH? Scott and I had a webcam but it was hard when I didn't hear from him at all. I was so reliant on emails, etc. I received a call every 2 months or so.
I hope you're feeling better -- and that the kids haven't gotten it! What a good friend! I'm glad you have some support around you. I wish I could make the time go quicker.
