I have a terrible tooth ache

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive October 2004: I have a terrible tooth ache
By Sue3 on Sunday, October 3, 2004 - 02:14 pm:

I had my teeth cleaned a few days ago.I have periodontal desiese so they scrap my roots (yuk ,I know) when they clean them.
Ever since I had that done my one tooth is progressivly getting more sensitive.
The bad thing is that I am a BIG chicken when it comes to the dentist and also it is a tooth that is attached to a bridge.
How they will get my bridge off I don`t know.
I don`t want to imagine how they do it ! LOL!
Also here`s the clencher....I have no dental insurance left for this year
so what ever they end up doing I will have to pay out of pocket. *sigh*
Please send get better tooth vibes my way.
Thanks , Sue

Sue,

It is very normal for your teeth to be sensitive after a cleaning. I would recommend that you use sensodyne(sp) toothpaste until they stop hurting. I hope you feel better soon.

{{{{{Sue}}}}} I hope it's just temporary.

Man, can I sympathize with you! You could have an infection, I'd call the dentist in the morning if I were you. Sensitivity to cold is pretty much considered normal, but if it's sensitive to the touch or to heat, that usually indicates an infection. I hope you feel better soon!!!!!

Sue, I have a toothache, too!

I haven't been to my dentist in 3 years (SHAME!) because our insurance wasn't covering much and we could only afford for ds to go. I finally went because I had a horrible pain in my back teeth on my right side. The dentist said I "lost" my bridge as a result of decay between the back 2 teeth. BUT- I couldn't get an appointment to fix it until DECEMBER!

*sigh*

Sue,if you think you have an infection that's causeing the pain,I highly recommend that you get some activated charcoal from the health food store.I know that probably sounds weird if you're not familiar with natural products. My DH had a terrible tooth ache a while back, and I finally convinced him to try it.In about an hour or two after he took the first dose, his tooth ache went completely away. Then, when it started to hurt again he would take a few more. After a few days on it,the pain went away for good.We also don't have ins.so since it didn't start hurting again,he hasn't done anything more about it.The activated charcoal is good for many other things, such as the digestive tract. And also good
to use in place of Ipecac, because they say now if you throw up certain poisons(that maybe a child accidentally ingested)it can be fatale.Whereas the charcoal diffuse's it.You can find more info on this on the web.But make sure it's Activated Charcoal, not just regular charcoal.Hope this helps.
