Gift Ideas????
My DSD will turn 21 on Thursday. I would like to get her something special, a different kind of gift. I usually give her money, gift certificates, clothes. I am just trying to think of something different.. Any Ideas??? TIA
Maybe something special between the 2 of you. Perhaps a necklace that says #1 daughter or maybe an afghan especially for her like this one: http://www.harrietcarter.com/Detail.cfm?prod=7437&UDC=Y I'm 22 this year and I know those things are more special to me than clothes, gift certificates etc...
My parents gave me diamond earrings for my 21st birthday to make a big deal out of it. Now they weren't super expensive solitaires or anything, but several really small diamond (almost) chips arranged together sort of like a princess ring. I still wear them and get compliments on them and when I wear them I always remember that I got them on my "adult" birthday.
My parents gave me diamond and sapphire earrings for my 21st. Their friends own a jewelry store, so they had them make me the earrings, a small sapphire in the middle, and small diamonds making a flower around it. The reason this was extra special to me is they had given me a bracelet when I was 9, with 2 little diamonds. I lost it, and they swore they would not buy me real jewelry ever again. They didn't until I was an adult.
21 shares of stock...
My parents also gave me jewelry on my 21st birthday. I got a beautiful diamond and gold tennis bracelet. I still love it. I know that it is something that is a true classic. It will always be something I can wear.
I must not have gotten anything special, because I sure don't remember. What I remember more was Christmas 1984. After a year of not having to pay for college, I got a Kitchenaid Mixer for Christmas! It was one of my best Christmas presents. I would have been 24.
How about a charm bracelet? I LOVE mine, you can get charms with her intrests on them and then later on add as she gets married, has children, etc... I got mine for my first Mother's day from my mom and I love it!
Well today is DSD Steph's 21st birthday and I did go with the jewelry idea. We got her a charm bracelet and a birthstone ring. Hope she likes them. She will be going out for dinner with her mom tonight and then DH and myself are taking her out tomorrow night.
Sounds like you made a great choice. That's a gift she'll probably keep forever, and every time she wears them, she'll remember when she got them. Good job, Mom!
