Cute ideas for family pictures?
Anyone have any cute ideas on what to wear for family pictures? We are going to get pics done before the holidays. Not sure what I want us to wear. Our last picture was casual. Red, white and jeans. I would love to do a very dressy picture. Girls in black dresses, boys in tuxes. But, I don't want to rent DH and DS a tux. Too expensive. I'm not much for "Sunday dress" pictures. Just looking for casual ideas. I once heard of a family doing their pic in their pj's. They all got brand new Christmas plaid pj's and did their picture in that.
That's a cute idea Robin. Around here some photographers will go out and do location pictures. We have a beautiful place called Renfrew park and many families get their picture taken outside. It is so pretty, stream, older mature trees, stone fences, etc. I know it wouldn't look like a 'holiday' pic. But I would like to do that some day
Personally I don't go for the matching look, but one idea would be black shirts with khaki pants. I definitely don't like the pajama idea, but I love the dress up one! Renting tuxes DOES seem too much though. I don't know...you're talking to someone with two daughters, eight and under, who have NEVER had their pic taken professionally, so I don't think I'm much help!!!
Oh I think the pj's is a CUTE idea!! With a Christmas tree in the scene and a fireplace!! I also like denim shirts and khakis look too. I tend to like more casual pictures than dress up.
I love the PJ idea we might just do that this yr. Thanks for the ideas.
I did the pj pic one year. It was just the kids, and they were in front of the tree. I'll see if I can find a small enough pic...
Here are a few of pj pics I found online...I think they are cute! It would make a cute portrait for the family room.
All white shirts would be cute. I do photography in my spare time, and I really love the outdoor 'look'. Let us know what you guys go with!
Oh I would love to do photography. I've always wanted to do that. Those pictures came out quite small!
The bottom pic looks really cute Robin. Are you going to do your own cards and place the pic inside? Or is this just pics to place around the house?
I didn't find the jammie shot, but here are a couple we've done. I just do the kids.
Those are great Marcia! I love outdoor photos
We will include wallet sized pics in some of our Christmas cards. Mostly, it's just our annual family portrait. We have a large portrait that we keep in the entry way. I like to update it about every year or so.
I like the nice casual white shirts with jeans look. The family in the pjs sounds cute, does that include the dh? My dh would NEVER go for that! I think the kids in the matching jammies is cute though
My Dh would go for it but how would we change into our PJ's for the picture to be taken and then into normal cloths after for the rest of the photos. I will have to call and find out if it is doable.
Marcia, how did you put those pics on here?
I love the PJ idea for Christmas pictures.
I did the pajama pics with my oldest two one year. They came out GREAT! Really cute. I don't think my dh would go for this idea either, but my dks looked adorable. They are each holding a giant teddy bear and are wearing matching red striped pjs. One of my favorites.
We did white shirts with jeans 2 years ago and they came out great. I told the photographer we didn't want a stuffy looking picture, so we are kind of all arranged on the floor in a very casual pose...my favorite picture of us ever! I'll try to get DH to scan it later.
That would be great Pam! Anyone else that can post pics, please do!
We have done the blue jean shirts with jeans a couple different times and those always come out good
Some great ideas! I just had to say, my old boss did a family photo in their mathching PJ's. The ENTIRE staff ended up in his office laughing at the picture.....for the kid's it would be cute, even the kid's and their mother....but there is just something about the Dad in PJ's. That's just my 2 cents. My cousin did some really cute one's for her Christmas Card at the beach one year. They made a snowman out of the sand, it had a scarf and hat, the kid's had on Hawian Poinsetta shirts, it was too cute.
