Did you find on your 2nd pregnancy you started showing a lot sooner? If so, around what week if you can remember? I'm only 8.5 weeks and I'm seriously thinking I'm going to have to go shopping this weekend. None of my jeans are fitting right. For the past week or so I've been doing the rubber band trick. I didn't start showing with DS until after 20 weeks, and I was a lot thinner then too. I guess I'm wondering if this is normal? Oh yeah, I haven't gained any weight so far, so I know it's not just extra fat. LOL BTW, sorry for all the pregnancy related questions. I'm just looking for justification here. LOL
Oh gosh yes! Those muscles are all stretched out from the first pregnancy. Be warned-it was even worse for #3. LOL. I think I started showing at the moment of conception on that one.
Yep. BTDT lol I did the rubber band thing, too.
What's the rubber band trick??
I usually use a hair tie, but any rubber band would work. You just stick the band through the hole on your pants and hook the 2 loops around the button. It holds your pants together somewhat, but makes it more stretchy.
Immediately! I was 6 mos pregnant with #1 and still able to "hide" the fact... the second I became pregnant with #2 I had to dig out all my old maternity clothes! Depressing, isn't it? LOL
Have to agree with Melanie about #3!!! I think I was wearing 3x's my size of clothes when I was 3 months with #3.
Same...
Ditto Melanie...
Not only did I show earlier, but I outgrew all of my maternity clothing.
Yep, i showed earlier too. I hate that stage where you would look goofy in maternity clothes, because you aren't really looking pregnant....but you can't fit into your normal clothes either. I wore pants with elastic waistbands and longer shirts.
Can't remember, lol All I remember is with our 3rd dd I felt like I showed even before I officially knew I was pregnant.
Yeah, Patti, I know what you mean. I can still fit in my shirts, it's just the jeans I'm having trouble with. I'm think I'm going to buy a couple of pairs of jeans now. That way, when I outgrow them, I'm not going to be out a ton of money. I just can't wait until I can start buying all the cute maternity shirts I've been seeing. Plus, I can't wear any of my old maternity stuff. I didn't start showing until Spring so all my old clothes are for Summer!
Nikki, I showed very early with #1, was in maternity clothes @ 8-10 weeks, but I had been really thin, so my tummy puffed out quickly. With #2, I was in maternity clothes by 6 weeks - for comfort because I was so sick and couldn't bare to feel clothes across my tummy. I got huge quickly with #2!
oh yes for sue i was in maternity cloths by 6-7 weeks with Jade. Good luck!
Yes!!!! I was actually very sick with ds #2. I didn't gain any weight for the first 4 months, but I sure had a belly. Everything was tight at about 8 weeks even without any weight gain. Your tummy muscles are just stretched out after the first.
That was a long time ago, but I think I ended up wearing maternity clothes sooner with the second one.
Sorry - I know you'll all hate me- but I showed much later with my second pregnancy and never made it into maternity clothes! I really watched my diet and made sure I ate the good stuff (proper amounts of protein and calcium) - not the bad. I drank a ton of water. It was only at the end, the last two weeks that I gained a lot of water weight. I gained 19 pounds total and have lost all but six of those pounds! She'll be two weeks tomorrow. The other night when my husband and I went out, I wore a "belly" shirt. My friend good naturedly called me a "b****" She said no one had a right to look that skinny after just having a baby. I think my abs were tighter this time around because I was always lifting my 35 pound son. Sorry for the "brag" but I worked hard to maintain a good weight and I'm really happy I was able to do it. As far as the abs go, I don't know why I don't have a pooch, but I won't complain... Ame
Yes Ame I do hate you....J/K I had to change the way I dressed early about 8wks because my shape is curvy and I had to wear clothes that accented my smaller waist otherwise all you could see was my big butt. I didn't show any sooner with #2. These facts will blow you away, especially you Ame. My doctor was always on me to gain weight, he thought I wasn't eating, and then month 7 came and I was gaining about 15lb a week. I gained 85lb in all. They never told me I had toxemia, but I shrunk as soon as I had the baby. I decided with #2 that I was not gaining that much weight. Same thing, dr telling me he thought I wasn't eating, and then BAM, I was huge! I watched what I ate, did Kathy Smith pregnancy workout video 5 times a week, took Scotty out for long walks in the stroller and guess what.....120lbs. Someone told me that dh and I looked like the number 10 because I was twice his size. I did have toxemia with #2 though.
Katherine...The same thing happened to me with Kolby. I gained about 60 lbs from months 6-7. I had toxemia also. I'm praying I don't get it this time.
Nikki, I hope not too! It sucks doesn't it?
I was wearing maternity clothes at 12 weeks with the first one because I wanted to look pregnant. I wore maternity clothes at 12 weeks with the 2nd b/c I couldn't fit in anything else...so YES!
Yes each one for me I showed more. I don't gain much weight when pg either, not from eating so well, but just from throwing up! With my first I came home from the hospital 10 pounds lighter than when I conceived. I still didn't fit into my regular clothes though, everything seemed to be all moved around...not fun! I was in maternity pants by about 10 weeks, I was trying to "hide" my pg a bit, I was in a new teaching job and didn't want to discuss it. But I could wear bigger shirts and be okay. With my 3rd at 10 weeks not only was I wearing mat clothes I looked like I was 4-5 mo pg.
