I found a Spyder jacket online for cheap and went to the Spyder website to get a better idea on how it would fit Connor. Although, I think the sizes are off?? Maybe I'm reading it wrong...it has been a long day.

Connor is 41 lbs and no where near these size 4 or 5 measurements. (Click on the link below and then scroll down to the part where it says "See size chart" and click on it.)

It says his chest should be between 23 and 24 inches? Is that all the way around? And then it says sleeve length should be around 18.5"???

And yes measurements are always all the way around unless they note differently.
Sleeve length would be from his shoulder to the tips of his fingers.

He normally wears a 4T shirt so those measurements seem really off. 18.5" for the sleeve especially.

When I had my son measured for a suit the sleeve length actually comes from the middle of the neck. She had him hold his arms out straight and put the tape measure in the middle of neck and went straight out to his wrist, he was a 38", I commented "so that's how you do that" I had always thought you went from the shoulder, so 18.5 may be right and yes the chest is all the way around and I might allow for bulky sweatshirts also.

Ok, that makes sense now...from the neck down. I think I might buy him a size 5 so he can grow into it and, you're right, allow for bulky clothes underneath.
