I have a friend who is filing for divorce. The problem is she wants a good lawyer (and will probably need one). Is there a website that gives info like yes they are accrediated, etc? She has asked friends, and has found an atty, but wants to check her out further...any ideas?

I agree with Ginny. I knew my lawyer as a friend before he was my lawyer. I trusted him, so he was a good choice for me. I also know MANY people who recommend a particular female divorce lawyer around here. She has a reputation as a scary you-know-what in the courtroom, one who always gets what her clients want. Talk to some people who have been divorced, and they will tell you who is the "top dog" lawyer in the area. And one who is board certified in Family Law is always a plus. Sorry to hear about your friend... divorce is horrid... best of luck to her.
