We're moving to Maryland!!
DH accepted a position in Maryland. Any advice on selling a house?
No advice...just best of luck wishes
As a veteran....We've sold 5.....I'd recommend that you DECLUTTER. Rent a storage place if you need it, but get the clutter out of the house. If you are smokers, shampoo the carpets, wash walls and ceilings and smoke outside until the place sells. Crate your pet in the garage while people view the house. Do not let it free in the yard. Curb appeal matters. Do minor repairs outside, and keep the landscaping attractive. Shine mirrors, windows, appliances, glass surfaces and chrome. Leave the house lit with medium intensity lights. Use simmering potpourri with cinnamon and cloves to give a homey atmosphere.
Thanks so much! I will do all of that! We have to move in one month so we are hoping to sell our house right away.
I don't have any advice but good luck with everything.
Where in Maryland are you moving to? I'm originally from there and now live in Northern Virginia about 30 minutes from Maryland. Do you have any family in the area?
We are moving to the Harford county area. Do you know anything about that area? I've never lived out there but we do have family in PA, WV, and VA. So, it will be nice to be closer to family.
Hmm.. Hartford... It's been so long since I've lived in Maryland (over 16 years). I grew up in Baltimore County - Timonium/Towson area. If I knew the name of the actual area, it may trigger something. If your family is in Northern Virginia, you are pretty close by to them, so that's nice! You will love the Inner Harbour... I think it is one of the best harbours on the East Coast with great restaurants and fun places for kids -- the aquarium, kids fun zone, science musuems for kids etc. It's also next to Little Italy for great Italian food and Fells Point, which is another quaint waterside community, lots of little bars and cafes (for those nights you and hubby have some time to yourselves). If you need more information with regard to northern Virginia, DC or Maryland, let me know. Good luck!
Also spend sometime looking at your front door, does it need painted, cleaned? Is the hardware in good shape, etc? People will spend 5 or so minutes waiting for the realtor to get the door open, this is where their first impression is made. Then go through the natural flow of the house, the first couple of rooms will make or break somebody interest, it will say hey they took great care of this place. Also price it right, I know we all want to make money, but if it is over priced it will sit on the market too long.
