Is there something wrong with me? (TMI?)
Ok, I started my period on Thursday with some cramping and just a little blood. Last month it was a little light too. I have only bled one time since and it was very little. Usually I bleed pretty heavily, but this month....nothing. My periods have been really different since I had Rylee. Before I had her, they lasted about 7 days and were very heavy with tons of cramping for the first three days. After Rylee, I get a really bad headache the day before I start and just a little cramping the day that I do start and it lasts only about 3-4 days, and it's not as heavy. I know that I am not pregnant because Chris pulls out so we can be extra careful. Is there something wrong with me?
If the pull out method is the only method of BC you are using, then you could be pregnant. But, my periods changed after I had kids too. I think that is quite normal. I use to go for the full 7 days. Now I'm down to 5 days, and somewhat irregular. Just another joy of having babies!
I am on BC and I haven't started any other type of medication.
The BC will make your periods lighter and shorter also. Ame
My periods became much lighter and shorter in length after my first two kids. Now 5 years after the last one they are back to the way they were before kids.
BC pills will definitely shorten and lighten your periods as well as help with cramps also. I'm the opposite - after my kids, mine were much worse.
I'm the opposite too. Mine are much worse. Today for instance, we had a staff thing at church. I put in a fresh "super" tampon before leaving home and drove to church (35 minutes away). Halfway through church I had to turn to a colleague and tell her I had to leave. I had gone through and my pants were SOAKED! It was awful...only 1 1/2 hours!
I just took a test and it was negative I am calling the doctor tomorrow.
I'm glad you are calling the doc. AJ
I'm very confused. You said you were on BC, but no what kind. If you are on pills or some type of 99% effective hormonal BC, then yes, your periods can be much lighter and you may have some breakthrough bleeding in between. My periods had also been much lighter and shorter since having kids. Now, however, age and 2 small fibroids have caused me to suddenly start having PMS and very heavy periods with bloodclots the first couple of days. It wouldn't hurt to go to the doctor to make sure everything is okay, but if you are on hormones I would suspect that this is the culprit. Also, if you are taking BC, then why use withdrawal? That dampens the whole sexual experience for both of you and isn't necessary anyway. Plus, sperm are released in the pre-ejaculate, so withdrawal is not generally effective anyway. Let things go to the natural completion and enjoy
How long post partum are you? Are you nursing? And did the dr change you BCP so you could nurse? Alot of times the dr will put you on a single ingredient BCP that allows you to nurse without any effects to the baby. That single ingredient BCP is only 97% effective and really messes with your periods. In most cases I have found that periods are lighter, shorter, and less frequent and in some cases non-existent with the single ingredient BCP. But...it never hurts to check with YOUR doctor. Everybody is different.
I'm not nursing and Rylee is almost 10 months old. When I was BF, I was on one pill, but when I stopped, which was when she was 4 months, he put me on the one that I am on now. It is called Triphasil. Before Rylee I was on the same BC pills and my periods were heavy.
I believe that I'd check with the doctor. It may be nothing more than hormonal changes that take a long time to straighten up. But it might be something that the dr needs to address. For some reason my old bcp was too strong for me after I stopped nursing and the dr had to change me to something else. See your dr for your peace of mind.
And let us know how your doing?
I just talked to the nurse at my doctors office and she said to watch my next period and see what it does. If the same thing happens, then I need to make an appointment. Hopefully all will be fine.
