So I went to the store today...

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive September 2004: So I went to the store today...
By Mrsheidi on Saturday, September 4, 2004 - 07:14 pm:

and this lady arrived at the checkout lane at the same time I did, jumped ahead of me like she was in a hurry, and then I realized...she has about 20 items in a 10 item checkout lane. Not to mention she saw that I only had 2 items and didn't let me go ahead of her. Even looks back at me twice and see what I have in my hands. Then...she puts her stuff on the belt VERY SLOWLY (she's probably in her 30's and very fit) and waits for the cashier to tell her the cost. After she hears the cost, she then opens her purse and searches for her credit card. Maybe I'm getting old, but people who are inconsiderate like that are starting to really get on my nerves...Saturday shopping vent!! Argh! LOL!

By Tink on Saturday, September 4, 2004 - 07:30 pm:

I usually do a big shopping trip every other Saturday and I purposefully didn't today because it is not only Saturday morning but it is the weekend after the first and it is a holiday weekend! It's terrible out there. DH works as the order writer for a grocery chain out here and he is getting tons of overtime for it so at least I see something positive out of it. Common courtesy isn't all that common and neither is common sense!

I so agree. "Common courtesy isn't all that common and neither is common sense!". And I usually let people in front of me even after I have loaded the belt with my stuff. I shop for 7 so I buy a lot. I would hate to be the person in line behind me.

Just today I had been waiting in line for 10 minutes or so & let a lady in front of me that only had a few items. I always do, one time this guy made a huge deal of it saying out loud how it was nice to know that some people were still nice & had manners.

I've had lots of people let me in before them, when I only have 1 or 2 items. I have let people go before me, that only have little things.

How frustrating to jump in front of you and then be slow about it, too!

By Mrsheidi on Sunday, September 5, 2004 - 08:56 am:

Yeah, it was quite obnoxious. I would have been a lot more angry if I had my son with me. Forgot to mention earlier too...I found a way to follow a car on the way home from the store, on a 2 lane road, that was driving between 5-10mph BELOW the speed limit. I don't get that...
I figure God was probably just trying to get me to slow down yesterday...I don't like it when He does that...LOL!!!

By Dawnk777 on Sunday, September 5, 2004 - 08:58 am:

We have a road near our house that has a speed limit of 45. It is so normal to be behind people who are only going 35-40. I don't get it! LOL! I feel your pain!

By Cybermommyx4 on Sunday, September 5, 2004 - 01:24 pm:

Memo from a cautious driver: Not to offend anyone, but a speed LIMIT is just that. We live in northern NH and there are a lot of windy, steep roads and "notches"...NOT to mention the moose, deer, bear, fox, wild turkeys...you name it...that can jump out in front of you at any moment. I go as fast as I feel comfortable and in control of my vehicle. Sometimes that is under the speed "limit" and it is SOOOOO scary and aggravating when someone (usually a tourist) wants to go the speed limit or above and tries to force others to do the same (especially when there is no safe place to pull over and let them pass, which I gladly do when I get the chance...) I'm not saying that any of you faster drivers do this to others, but *please* try to remember that *sometimes* there is a reason for a person's slower speed (maybe they need new tires and can't afford them yet), etc. Just trying to help explain one viewpoint from life in the slow lane, lol! ;)

Totally understandable!! Here in Northern Alabama where it's a straight road through "Bubba-Ville", the only thing I have to worry about is a drunk Nascar fan crossing the road! LOL! No, in all seriousness, I try to give them the benefit of the doubt and just tell myself that maybe, like I said before, God is telling me something. ;-)
