I haven't worked in a couple of years because I got sick in 2001 with an autoimmune disease. I have been doing great since February, so I have been wanting to try to work again since both kids are now in school.

I finally decided to put in my application for substitute or teacher's aide at my children's school (elementary K-4) and was called today to come in tomorrow as a third grade aide!!! It's not permanent yet, which is good because I want to see how I do at working, but I am so nervous!!!

I have never done this type of work before, besides working with the kids in my church. But this is the type of work I have always wanted to do!

I'll let you all know how it goes!

I worked 8-12 today and I absolutely loved it! I really did a lot of hands on work with the students. It was different than what I am used to because at church, I always have the younger children...ages 3-6 usually. But I loved this age group. More so than I realized I would. My daughter was thrilled because I was in her room for a little while this morning.

I did get a little tired, being on my feet for four hours straight, but I expected that. I did very well, health-wise, though. I am so proud of myself and just thrilled! I hope I get called often! And there is a strong possibility it could turn into a full position (30 hours a week).

So thanks so much everyone! And yes, Karen, I got your e-mail, and sent you back a book! hehe!
