Cooking question
Does anyone know if you can put frozen chicken breasts in a crockpot? I just decided I want to fix chicken for dinner, and of course they're frozen. TIA!
You can defrost them in the microwave. I doubt they'd cook well in the crockpot frozen.
Ok, thanks Trina. That's what I was thinking. I'd hate to wait 4-6 hours for dinner and have it be ruined. lol
I've tossed the chicken in the crock pot frozen before and it turned out fine. I guess it depends on what you are making? I usually put my crock pot on High anyway,so I know it will cook by the end of the day. Good luck! What are you making? Anything good?
I always put my meat in frozen. But I also start it in the morning and cook it on high for at least half the day and then turn it down. If your not going to let it cook for a long time, I would defrost it first.
Eve, I was going to make Easy Chicken and Rice(from the recipe board). Until I discovered I'm out of Cream of Mushroom soup. I usually stockpile the stuff for "just in case". Anyone know of any other good chicken recipes?? I'm tired of having jerk and lemon pepper chicken.
If you go to recipezarr.com they have tons of crockpot recipes and some are for frozen chicken.
I always put things in frozen too. I'll take out a frozen fryer chicken, toss it in the crock and I'm good to go!
I did mine frozen when I made the easy chicken and rice you are making. Turned out great!!! I don't like cream of mushroom so I used cream of chicken. You can also use some milk and a chicken boullion as a substitute for the soup.
Crystal, I didn't know about the substitute for Cream o' Chicken soup. I throw frozen chicken in all the time. It turns out fine as long as it cooks long enough.
I have even thrown a frozen beef roast in the crockpot and it was fine by suppertime! Tink, you can interchange any of the "cream of" soups, if you don't like the one it calls for.
I knew I could interchange them, just didn't know there was any replacement for them, ie: chicken boullion and milk.
