Shaking leg syndrom?
Anyone here ever heard of it?It's were you have to shake your legs all the time, usualy before you go to sleep. Can really make you crazy!Anyone else have this?
I have never heard of it.
I have! lol... My childhood best friend used to do this. I can remember so many nights going to sleep to that shaking feeling when we had sleepovers. hmmm, I wonder if she still does it?
My dh does this. Some nights are worse than others but there are definitely nights that he sleeps on the couch because it is so bad. He does it during his sleep too. He has found that too much caffeine makes it worse and some light stretching helps...sometimes. He is worried that it is a warning sign of Parkinsons'. Anybody know?
It's called "Restless Leg Syndrome." It's not a sign of Parkinson's, but caffeine does make it worse. I usually don't have a problem, except at nights when I've had too much caffeine. It makes it terribly difficult to get to sleep. Here's a link if you're interested. http://www.rls.org/what_is_rls/
I have RLS and it can be awful at times. Mine came as another symptom of my autoimmune disease. I tend to have more problems when I have been on my feet too much that day. I have to take meds for mine because it is so bad. At one time I took Quinine every evening for it and it helped tremendously. I had to stop taking it for a time, because we suspected I had some heart problems. Klonopin helped, and now I take Ativan, which is a fast release form of the Klonopin. I am very sensitive to meds, and the Klonopin was dragging me down in the morning, but the Ativan is fast acting, so it is out of my system by morning. Quinine is widely used for RLS, though. Check into it if it is very bad... Warm baths will sometimes ease the discomfort, also, as will at times, moving around some.
http://www.rls.org/what_is_rls/ I have it too. It gets worse when I am pregnant. Ever since starting a daily multi vitamin it's been much better. Good luck.
It's not parkinsons- but it can be a symptom of Tourette's syndrome. My dad has it and my ds has Tourette's.
