Sascha the Rotweiler - gotta love that dog!
She is a joy and a delight, to put it conservatively. She is very quiet, very lay on the rug most of the time. Scott takes her out in the yard and tosses a ball or stuffed animal for her and she plays for about 15 minutes - very vigorously, jumping, running, leaping - and then says, in effect, that's enough, and she picks up the toy and walks to the edge of the yard and lies down, and nothing can get her to move except to come in the house. The first time she decided to be playful was in the living room, and after a couple of minutes of her tossing a stuffed toy around I told Scott that a living room is no place for a nearly 100 pound dog to play. She is so funny - she "break dances", turns over on her back and squirms around, trying to persuade someone to rub her tummy, and will stay for minutes at a time. And when you stop and she has to turn upright, she is definitely not graceful - sort of like a turtle on its back trying to turn over, but much bigger and louder. And when she decides to lay all the way down and drops her head to the floor, you hear the thump all through the house. Scott took her to the vet, and she weighs 95 pounds. She had kennel cough - a variant the vaccine didn't stop - but a couple of weeks of antibiotics took care of that and the SPCA paid for it under a "two week guarantee" program. After what happened with Keyla, Scott decided to get her vaccinated for Lyme Disease, and the vet very kindly agreed that since Scott is a vet tech, the vet would administer the first shot and if she had no ill effects, they would sell the vaccine to Scott to administer the second and third shots. Tonight Scott is taking her into town, to a dog-friendly pub to meet a friend, and put the Figure-8 harness on her as an extra measure of control. After a few minutes of being in the harness, she decided that was enough, and picked up the leash in her mouth and brought it to him. We both roared with laughter. She is a joy and a delight, and a really good dog. I could not be happier with her, or with her effect on Scott.
I'm glad she's a part of your family! Funny how animals put the 'life' into people
I am so glad that Sascha is fitting in so well with you and Scott. It sounds like she is just what he needed.
Animals are great therapy! I'm so glad she has such a great home.
Ginny, I'm so happy to hear that! We'd all love to see a pic of her.
She sounds to good to be true. What a lucky family to get such a special dog......lucky dog, too!
What a nice dog! I'm sure she will bring you many years of delight!
Excellent news! I am truly glad everything is working out for Scott and Sascha
She sounds like a wonderful companion. She is really lucky to have you two as owners. I'm sure Scott is happy!
What a blessing to have a 2nd wonderful animal in Scott's life! Of course Sascha doesn't take Keyla's place but she seems to be a great comfort to him. I'm so glad that she has found a wonderful home with you.
Oh she sounds like such a wonderful dog! What an amazing thing you did by adopting her! Especially a Rottweiler, they have such a bad rap. I grew up with Rottweilers and adore them. Every time I am at the shelter to pull a dog, I usually end up with a Rottie/and or mix. Excellent dogs!
I am so happy for you, Scott and Sascha!
