Car accident
Yeah my oldest was driving home to visit us from college today- he's 20. The phone rings right after church to him saying he had a wreck and he thought he was okay he was was wearing his seat belt. So, we live in rural Alabama. No big cities near us- he goes to school in Tuscaloosa. I kept trying to call his cell phone and it was saying user unavailable. He didn't call us from his cell either. When we got nearer to where we thought he was we saw smoke - big huge black smoke. I am like- surely that is not the car. Asking DH is it? Is it? When we got nearer a few cars were stopped and we jumped out and I said what happened- to a girl and she said his car flipped- pointed in the other direction. Sure enough there was my Blake- covered in blood. My legs just gave out. I drove him to the hospital and luckily just a few cuts. Nothing major. We left DH there with the burning vehicle. The highway patrol said he flipped 4 times- he got out through a broken window before the car blew up. Good Lord ya'll- things like this happen in a split second. We were blessed today. Thanks for letting me cry through this. Oh yeah and last night someone gave him one of those Lance Armstrong livestrong bracelets. It was covered in blood, but I think he may wear it a while.
That is so scary! I'm glad that he is o.k.
So glad he is ok.
what an ordeal for you and your family ! Glad your son is safe and he had no major injuries.
{{{{{{{{Pat}}}}}}}}} That is SO scary! Thank God he got out of the car! I'm glad he's OK. It's every parent's worst nightmare - one I experienced a few years ago when NOPD called to tell me my DD had been in an accident and was taken to Charity Hospital and her condition was unknown. Heartstopping! Your DS is the same age as my DS. I can SO relate to how you are feeling!!!
I'm so glad to hear that he got out of the car and only suffered minor injuries. It is so scary to realize that everything can change in a heartbeat. Hugs and prayers for all of you.
((((hugs)))) Car accidents are so scary. I'm glad he's going to be ok.
Wow, that must have been so scary for you, DH and your ds! I'm so glad he is o.k. and that he was wearing his seatbelt!!!
Thank the good Lord he was able to get out of that car. I'm so glad he had just minor injuries.
I'm glad your son is okay!
Oh my! Thank goodness that your ds is ok!
I'm glad that he is ok.
Oh no! I'm glad to hear he is okay. How scary.
{{{{{Pat}}}}} Thank god he is ok. As Karen said that phone call is every parents night mare.
Thanks ya'll. I know he will be sore today. I am just so thankful he didn't hit his head and was able to get out.
What a miracle that he was okay and got out of the vehicle in time! (((Pat)))
Thank the Lord. How scary...Yeah, he will definitely be sore today, but I'm so glad he's still here. I know you'll be giving him some extra hugs today!
I have chills reading this....That is very scary. He was very lucky to get out when he did. I think I would wear the bracelet for a while too!
I have chills, too! My oldest ds is 20, also, and I worry so much about him and his sister off at college. My youngest dd is about to start drivers ed in a year, so the cycle of worry just continues. My mother, 77, told me that once you become a mother you get to worry for life. She wasn't kidding! I'm so relieved that your ds is okay - and yes, I do believe in miracles.
It does sound like a miracle for him to have escaped the burning car w/ minor injuries. A prayer of thanksgiving is given. Hope he has an easy recovery.
Wow. I so glad things turned out as well as they did. Hugs to you both.
Yes, thank God he is okay today. I can only imagine how I will feel when my dk's start to drive. prayers for him to have a fast recovery from the few cuts.
I'm glad he's okay, too. (((hugs)))
I'm glad things are ok. (((HUGS)))
Kay, your mom was right. Once you become a parent, the worry never ends. When my 32 y/o DD leaves here and drives back across the lake to go home, I *still* ask her to call me when she gets there so I'll know she and Madison are safe!
Oh, how frightening! Say your prayers of thanks tonight, for sure. So glad he was wearing his seat belt - I'm sure that's what kept him alive and with only minor injuries.
I'm so glad he was okay! Hug him extra tight.
Thank God he was wearing his seat belt and is okay Pat. I know you have dozens of new gray hairs tonight.
